Title: Moscow: Russian Horology Pieces

Was in Moscow last week and had the chance to see a few shops. Did not really go out much because of the abysmal weather.

in the few days I was there, the weather averaged about -20c. It was advised not to breathe through the mouth because you'll catch a cold faster that way.

don't really know much about Russian watches. so i just snapped if i see anything interesting; mostly it's just vintage or psuedo vintage pieces. the modern watches are really crass and kitsch IMHO.

being very much a chess loving nation, you can get chess timers easily from any watch shops

Very good pictures.....lots of vintage watches...i think mostly is moscow classic, aviator and Poljot....
anymore pictures.!!!!..never been there but at least can see the pics...

Nice vintage pieces!
Russia should be lots of brand boutiques since now they are a very big market.
Did you grab 1 or 2 vintage pieces yourself?

did not get anything

other than the new watches which have price tags, the vintage ones are only for display. did not know the "real" value of the watch to know the ballpark figure. Some vintage examples are quite special with small "customisation" by their previous owners..

if you notice, there is a photo on the leather strap on this watch. I guess, it's maybe it;s to remind the wearer about home during the tough times.

yeah, the weather is a killer. the P&S cameras that my friends brought along froze and could not even power up!

so far only metal bodied cameras survived the cold. like my dslr and a s95
