Post by: ballaviator on February 22, 2011, 09:02:13 PM
Hi all

Saw this watch in one of the old watch shops.. was thinking whether to get it ornot? is it a good watch? why do some ppl say that its limited edition ?

One of the best value diver.
It is not limited edition if you talking about black and orange monster.
They do have some limited edition produced mainly for Thailand market in yellow, red, blue, green etc.

It's not limited edition, perhaps the shop meant it's getting harder to find locally. The last I heard TS no longer bringing in the OM so once the existing stocks are snapped up, thats it. As a matter of fact, I think I heard someone say it here.

Also there's word on the other forums that 7Sxx movements are being phased out with newer movements so the divers using 7Sxx are coming to the end of their lifecycle. Many Seikoholics believe the OM will be a classic in years to come.

Other than that it's one heck of a beater watch.  ;D

If you can afford only 1 cheap diver than that should be the one.

One word,

I asked the seikos kaki around and they told me Thong Sia Malaysia will not be carrying in OM anymore eventhough it is still in Production based on one of my contact who email TS directly. Go get it before its too late or what.

I guess they want to selll the more expensive but "not as good as OM" diver to the masses. Seiko 5 diver for RM1.6k, no thanks man. I kinda sick of the "Seiko 5" logo.

I really dont understand TS decision on that one.
The OM has been selling out each time its in the shop (well most of the time), they decide to not bring it in anymore is beyond me.

Unless they plan to bring in a "new" OM with the new movt then its another story.

I remember seeing a pic of a limited edition white monster...
Now THAT is spanking!!! but I guess hard to find here in Malaysia.
Any idea why Thailand seems to get most limited editions but not here.
Thailand market for Seiko watches that great ah? ???

If I am not mistaken, Thailand is in the top 10 list of Rolex world sales. Our beloved country is not featured. so i reckon, they should have a larger watch enthusiast than us.

as for the SE Monsters, i think if the local distributor can commit a certain number and can convince the main office to produce it for marketing and promotion, Seiko would definitely not going to refuse the request.

so guys can petition and write a good proposal for the marketing director of Thong Sia in Malaysia and try ur luck for a.....yellow, purple, brown, khaki, sky blue....monster?

If it's Malaysia exclusive, I reckon it'll be a yellow monster... same colour as our national team football jersey ???

in the spirit of current themes.. it should be a yellow monster with Arabic 1 in the 1Malaysia logo  :Laughing_on_floor:

we have 1Malaysia everything now.. might as well have SE 1Malaysia Monster

@adrian: 2K for Seiko 5? Which model?

@ballaviator: Any pictures? I've seen a dark brown leather strap which I think would go very well with my OM.

But in the meantime, Im just making do with my own OM on a NATO .
Very eye catching especially with the ladies  ;D

Nice OM monster... last time when I was in KK, couldn't make up my mind between black monster or orange monster. End up, buying the seiko white samurai...maybe I should get the orange, or black, or orange....or both  ;D

OM/BM are equally good

TS seems that does not understand our lovely homeland watch market. There are few models were selling like hot cake but they just refuse to bring in.
