I guess for 1st time buyer of moonwatch it's make sense to get the new movement (it's supposed to be better right? )
But for me I'm happy with my 1861 cal Speedy.

out of curiosity, was it the reduced that had the weird 2-in1 movement modules that were difficult to service? or was that an old version or something?Time consuming and need a lot of patience, normally they will just swap refurbished module instead of service.

The RRP has jumped almost RM10k and I would have expected a Glidelock like clasp and 70 hours power reserve.
Smart move to make the 2020 Snoopy look like an acceptable price at close to RM40k.
Glad I bought the previous model while they were "relatively cheap" and I can see their value slowly creep up when supplies run out.
They're trying to capture the RM30k RRP market that ROLEX has left vacant.
Any chance of a 20+5% discount on the RRP Perhaps?
When it doesn't move, AD will offer for sure.

I think part of the charm of the speedy was that it hit the right balance of affordability and historical significance, it's the number 1 recommended watch for people that wants to get into watch collecting or first serious luxury watch. When it's priced out of reach of most average folks then it would be a sad day :(

after actually studying the pictures, you can see the differences..
1. seconds track now has less divisions to account for the 21,600vph movement, cleaner dial :thumbsup:
2. sub dial depressions a bit different ie. look more like pie pan :thumbsup:
3. middle of hands in sub dial aren't painted white :thumbsdown:
4. Speedmaster word looks bigger :thumbsup: and PROFESSIONAL looks wider too :thumbsup:
5. bracelet looks finer, more like jubilee :thumbsup:
6. clasp is changed.. undecided on this.

All depends on the buyer. I believe the 1863 could be bought new from AD at RM16k in 2018 and the 1861 was going for about 2k less then.
I would trade up a 1863 for 3861 just because the new movement hacks.

I got quoted 16830 for the 1861 cal variant at the boutique around mid of last year. With the price hike included maybe its a decent buy?
