Title: Time for a switch
Post by: dualcarb on February 22, 2020, 02:36:22 PM
As the title has stated, I had a little time to kill today after taking care of my household chores, and kids. Seeing that the coronavirus is playing havoc over here in HK and that bringing the kids out is a pain, we decided to stay in today. So after making sure that the kids have something to do, it’s time for papa to play...
After seeing so many posts about how great the glidelock is on the GMT, and how fantastic it looks and how subtle and how all the stars and moon shine...Yada Yada Yada...it is time to demystify the hype and see for myself.

So here is my plan.
Take the Glidelock out of the SubC date and replace it with a bond NATO.

Replace the bracelet on my GMT to the Glidelock

Such an important undertaking calls for some “company”...luckily I have an American companion for this

So after a few minutes of fiddling around...here are the end results...

(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200222/4f1c6b3c10a054182cf7cb062088f234.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200222/f9ecb1749e84ec8b318854ebf73b61fa.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200222/8aac8db4ee1097a714eaf7641872105d.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200222/e4ea83c0f293ea9a0554513ad4947c10.jpg)

While I think that this makes the watch more adjustable, I believe, in my humble opinion that the GMT belongs on a bracelet with polished center links. This does nothing to the watch and I swapped it back right away.

The SubC date, however, is super comfortable and super nice... a lot better than I expected. I find this combo to be much more impressive than having the bond NATO on my Speedy Pro

So there you have it...my own humble take on what the Glidelock does for the GMT...absolutely...NOTHING! The hype only works for some. Or do they only say that it is great and such because they spent $2,600 USD to purchase the Glidelock bracelet to use on the GMT? I say that the GMT is good where it is...on the PCL bracelet in which it came in. But the SubC date however, feels great on a NATO...

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the post.
Cheers all

Have to say SubC always look great on a NATO strap!

Great experiment!  The GMT 2 surprisingly looks better with the original bracelet with PCL.

Unexpectedly, I like the NATO on the sub. Looks good!

Thanks for the response gents. I am surprisingly happy with the Sub on NATO while I have switched the GMT back onto it’s original PCL bracelet. The NATO is surprisingly comfortable and really makes the Sub look rugged and lighter and more like the tool watch it was meant to be.
