Hi everyone,
Just started to get into watches not too long ago.
Planning to buy a new watch from AD (Rolex Ceramic Daytona). Went into a few shops in Pavillion and Starhill.
Waiting list 2 - 5 years. May I know what is the procedure to put your name on the waiting list?
Do you normally pay a deposit?
-
No deposit needed

As long as u willing to pay premium price I guess they all will get the stock ready in 2-5 days

How much more on top of sticker price would that normally be?
Do you just tell them you are willing to pay above sticker price?
-
5 years sounds ridiculous.

I have difficulty to believe that Rolex produces only a small number of Daytona per year (they apparently produce close to a million watches a year and thus are not focused on niche markets but want to see as many as possible people with their watches).
I can only guess that suppliers/ADs hold on the watches to create a feeling of shortage/exclusivity and then ask for a premium.
Rolex did send some warning recently to ADs (in Singapore specifically) to ask them to stop requesting premium on their products.

Asked Rolex KLIA yesterday. 3 years :(

Forget about SWG, they are selling to grey only with bundle deals for hot model

Try to take a look the price on Chrono24, it will giv u some guideline. Especially those seller from HK.

US retail price is $12,400 and the cheapest ones brand new on Chrono24 are around $18,000 so around 50% premium...

Most boutique don't even bother to take our name for the queue! Only yday i had a long persuasion talk with one of the dealer: they can 'try' to fast track Daytona Ceramic if i buy another full gold Rolex Datejust. Any gold model will do but cannot even be gold/steel+diamond models. the cheapest full gold Datejust i checked is circa rm100k++.
this one very expensive 'shortcut'...

U’re totally right. Fastest shortcut

you need to go Hong Kong
-
you need to go Hong Kong
Go Hong Kong and put name on their waitlist?
Or buy from their grey market?
-
if my calculation is right, the Rolex AD in:
Hong Kong : 55
Malaysia : 19
I'm sure your chances of getting one is higher as compared to Malaysia.
-
I just came back from Taiwan, went to a few AD including one at duty free, the only sports model you can get is explorer 2, half gold or full gold models, that's it.
-
Singapore Airport terminal 1 Rolex AD has no Daytona stock available.
-
Every time I look in a Rolex boutique, only the models that nobody wants to buy are available. I really don’t get why they do that. If I cannot try a watch i cannot buy it.

Some ADs do have the pieces in the vault- you just have to ask about the pieces and hope that they would bring them out for you to try.
