Hello all, im currently looking to add a new dive watch to my collection. I have narrowed it down to the JLC master compressor and the Submariner. Lemme list out my key concerns here before fellow sifu's can help me make a rational thinking. Please note that im a pretty fat guy with huge wrist size ::):Dancing_banana:
JLC Master Compressor
Pros
1. I like the style
2. I feel its a good size for my fat wrist
3. 65 hours powa reserve
4. Not as common as Subby
5. Great lume
Cons
1. Low value retention
2. The watch feels damn light, i like a little weight on my wrist when im wearing my watch
3. The bezel and the bracelet feels a little flimsy (maybe because of its light weight)
4. Not as versatile as Subby because this watch is so big, people could spot you all the way from kathmandu and of cos its kinda hard to hide it under the sleeves.
Submariner (Ceramic)
Pros
1. Good value retention
2. Got them real watch weight feeling
3. That bracelet and claps is amazing
4. One of the sexiest looking bezel around
5. Mercedes hands are sexy
6. Pretty versatile watch, can use for work+sports+travel
Cons
1. CYCLOPS date i cannot stand the little bump on the screen, i feel its very old fashion
2. 40mm is a little small on my wrist
3. One of the most common watch around
4. 45 hours power reserves
Finally as a point for consideration, i know rolex is not owned by anyone and servicing your rolex is usually very easy compare to JLC. Longevity of the watch i cannot comment as i do not have both my JLC and rolex long enough to question their longevity (appreciate it if anyone from the forums could advice).

The cyclops can be removed easily.
Longitivity and reliability? Rolex movement definitely can pass this easily. You can see many of their watch are pass from one generation to another.
They used to be tool watch, their movements meant to be work horse, can take daily beating. Bonus point, newer one with COSC +/-2 sec, service interval increased to 5 yrs.

Its a close one but I choose the sub as it will age better in my opinion.

buy the sub..if later u dont like it, u can flip it+some money and get the jlc.. ;D

I'm 91kg and have a 6.9" wrist. I'd go with Sub. And if you don't like the 116610, go for the 114060:

I'd go for a sub in this case. But if given a wider option I'd go with a vintage sub. 14060M maybe. The older the better - 16800, 1680 and 5513. Good luck!
