Title: Traded a car for this watch
Post by: landyshah on December 05, 2010, 09:07:47 PM
Well, the car was equally ancient and bashed up anyway  :Laughing_on_floor:

Seiko 6139-6020, from 1979. Quite a common old classic but i like the pepsi bezel and black dial on this one (some are horrible 70s gold)
Chrono pushers and chapter ring stuck (common problems) but otherwise looks pretty original and intact, keeping fairly good time.
I plan to send it away for complete restoration. Removed the bracelet and put it on a Zulu, been wearing for the last 2 days.

Hehe, 70s watches have so much character...love it. I think they were so daring with design and colours  back then!

Manburg - your chrono timer running in the shot?

Yes! Wanna know why? Because the watch won't run unless the choro is activated.  Anyway, for a 34-year old watch, I can't expect it to work like a charm out of the box, right? (okay, there' no box for this ... only a cheapo plastic holder ) Still thinking of whether to send it for service or not. Know any good watchmaker for such an old seiko?

Sold mine to a good friend and big time collector. Now in good home. Very happy.

I guess there are some guys in KL/SG for sure.
I send mine to the US, I find them more professional and understanding of what restoration is all about.
