Hi,
I'm looking into buying a Diver Watch, can someone suggest Which Diver watch is good under RM 10K budget?

What kind of look, performance and use you are after...there is the Rolex sub or the without outer bezel like the longines legend? Really up to you ????

Didn't really like the Longines Legend.
So far I have Short listed the following :
Tudor Heritage Black Bay
Oris Diver 65
Breitling Super ocean
There's a good price gap among these 3 options so I'm confuse.
Should I spend the money on the expensive Tudor or Breitling or settle for Oris for less money and i can use the balance to buy a Sport or Pilot watch.
But not sure if Oris is worth buying as a brand.

Between the 3 that you have shortlisted up there, there's really not much competition. You can't make a bad choice with the Tudor BB, and there are quite a few variations to choose from these days. It's like having a near-to-Rolex minus the premium, and would be more low profile compared to an actual Rolex, if that works for you. Once you go that route, be warned that you may find yourself looking for an Omega or Rolex next. Breitling SO's dial seemed a bit busy to me; while Oris D65 is an affordable weekend watch, much like the Seiko Turtle Re-issue.

Thanks my heart is also in Tudor BB however just thinking that I can have 2 watches in the price of 1 if I go for Oris or similar price options 😊
Don't get be wrong I'm not trying to save money but have more if possible without compromising on value and style.

If you are new to the hobby, you may be hankering over quantity over quality. I know that route, been there, done that. No harm going that route anyhow (if you stopped by my blog in my signatory, you would see how I've been adding and flipping more than 60 watches of various brands over the years); but you may get to some point that you would become more picky about the brands that you would like to wear. You tend to lose a bit every time you flip a watch (saved for Rolex from experience), but you gain that additional bit of experience and satisfaction; so it all works out anyway.

You are right, i'm in that phase right now :)
I just purchased my 2nd Luxury Watch (B&R 03-92 Golden Heritage). Was thinking to buy B&R 03-92 Diver however end up with Heritage cuz Diver was not available.
I love the following 3 categories and have 1 or 2 watches in each category which i love so more confuse which one to buy 1st and how much money to spend.
Diver (Tudor BB, Oris 65 or Breitling Superocean Heritage 42MM)
Pilot (LONGINES AVIGATION WATCH TYPE A-7 1935, Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special)
Sport (Montblanc TimeWalker, Oris Williams F1 or other)
One thought is in the price of Tudor BB or Breitling i can buy both Oris 65 and Longines Avigation) So i should go for that.
On the other hand i love Tudor BB and Zenith Pilot and i can only buy one of them in that price.
One watch which me and my wife love Montblanc TimeWalker but i feel in that price RM14K (as per Boutique after discount) i can have more valuable options shouldn't be spending this kind of money.
So quite confuse frankly :) Any suggestions.....

If you don't mind getting Seiko, SBDX017 is a good choice and within your budget.

Most people can't tell the difference between Seiko and Grand Seiko in the wild (but all set to change now that Seiko is putting a distinction between both these branding as per Baselworld 2017), so it's even harder for non-enthusiasts to differentiate between non-premium Seiko pieces from premium ones. Hence, if you ask between a Swiss piece and a Japanese piece, most people would attached a higher value to the Swiss piece; although the MM300 is a good addition to any collection (although at this state when you are starting off, perhaps having the basic Swiss piece would still triumph over the premium Japanese piece; but this could change after you have had a few Swiss pieces through your hands). If you are hankering over the Japanese pieces too, why not start with the basic pieces like Turtle and Tuna- these are affordable pieces and won't break your bank account at all.

try all of them on your wrist and buy the one which gives you the most feel.....no point having an expensive or "high value" watch on your wrist if you don't like it.

Most people who don't know watches will always make the assumption that a Swiss watch, no matter the brand will always be better than a Seiko. If you want to put value as a determining factor to compare the Oris diver 65 and the Seiko marine master 300 SBDX017. I'd put my money on the Seiko any day of the week. Because at the end of the day, if you want to resell the watch, the Seiko will command a better second hand price. The Oris is a much more wearable watch for everyday use. Lots of straps options and sits lower. The Seiko is heavy and thick. Built quality of the watch goes to Seiko. And the Seiko, although is supposed to be a tool watch is more "blingy". That said...even though I own the Seiko and love it. It's just not a practical everyday watch. I'd go for the Oris diver 65.

Agreed. I'm going to try few which I like and have shortlisted. I'm kind of person who end up buying what I like when I put on.

I get what you mean, Dualcarb. It's a rite of passage with Seiko watches, most of us tend to move on from 5 to Monster to Baby Tuna to Turtle, then to MM300 and GS. New hobbyists tend to place too much emphasis on the "Swiss" part, which was why they may go with entry-level Swiss brands first before graduating to the bigger boys. Either way, no wrong in either routes. Sooner or latter (unless you are Meor the watch-collecting legend), one tends to consolidate and be more mindful of the pieces added into one's collection. In my case, for instance, I had phases with Japanese brands, micro-brands, entry-level Swiss brands, the depreciation-proof Rollies and Omegas; and am just holding back on the piece that was to be my grail (told my spouse that I would stop the hobby when I get this particular piece, which was also the reason I held back when made the offer from fellow collectors). In the meantime, for the TS, just enjoy your journey- it's bound to be fun with ups and downs.

Well too be very honest for now my main criteria is looks, ease of use as casual driver. I just concern about after sale value cuz i bought few watches in past which when I decided to get rid wasn't easy to sell. So I'm just mindful that while look and feel is important with brand value i should not end up buying something which if I decide to sell give me headache.

The first serious diver watch that introduces my diver watch journey is Seiko Orange Monster . Along my diver watch journey, I found that my Seiko diver watch still is the majority.
Me too, I have a MM300. And because of MM300 I don't need to buy GS!

I agree with you Andy. One has to go through many many watches before one learns how to appreciate a Grand Seiko. I once had the pleasure of having a long long chat with a watch collector. His collection consists of over a hundred watches and with a price range of five figure to seven figure watches. And he said "you don't call yourself a watch collector unless you have a GS in your collection".
