Title: Steinhart time piece
Post by: dexson on April 05, 2017, 02:15:51 PM
Dear MWF,

I was browsing to add a pilot style watch into my collection recently and found this on the web.

Steinhart Nav B-Uhr 47 ST1 Premium.

At a glance, few of the things caught my attention, mainly ;

1) Very legible dial with small second hand,
2) Sandwich dail with superluminova (it mentioned Superluminova Bgw9, did a check and apparently its the second best grade after C3 ?)
3) Nicely decorated hand wound ETA UNITAS 6497-1.
4) It is 47mm  my taste.

downside could be :

1) The blue hands seem a little weird. (I mean the type of blue material they use. From photo they look like a layer of GEL ?)
2) 18,000 vph, seems like very jumpy.
3) Water resistant only 5 Bar - They even note that not advisable to shower.

What do you guys think ? This watch retails at 990EURO including shipping. This might be the first time buying online.

Kindly see attached pictures for greater details.

Your valuable advise and opinion will be much appreciated !

Regards,

Visually, rather handsome watch.

I do have one Steinhart (still with me) and good value for money IMHO. Also got it from the internet. Overall experience was pleasant with no complications :)

Good luck on your journey!

the blue hands, are they heat treated blue or painted ?

also, your concern about the water resist shouldnt be there la. it's a pilots watch, not divers.  :D

3) Water resistant only 5 Bar - They even note that not advisable to shower.

I have had 3 pieces of Steinhart, all ordered vide their website and delivered with no hassle. One of the piece had a mechanical problem upon arrival, and the claim for warranty was a bit of a hassle as one had to courier back to them to check and revert. But communication to and fro was alright. All in all, I find their watches very value-for-monies; although the homage diver pieces invited too many "new Rolex?" questions so I flipped them off thereafter and just stick to actual Rolex models.

The logo on dial is metalic (they must ensure the shiny finishing is the improved one. Hope that they have done so). The blue trimmed on hands should be painted.
It will be good if steinhart can reveal  the lume lasting time after fully charged.

Thanks for your feedback. Specs wise is not bad in a beginner eyes like me. Ill do a little more survey and decide with preparation  wow you bought 3 pieces from them! definitely theres something that caught your attention for the first and second piece.

Yeah their diving watches do look alike rolex.. and their pilot watches look like IWC in my opinion.

Since you bought 3, they give u any referral code for discount ?

You mean you got a unit with a defected metallic logo ? Its like painted (hands) but I can feel its opacity.

IIRC there was an offer towards free shipping from Gunter after the defective piece; but no referral discount code.

I think  Stowa would be better choice if you want this variant of pilot watch

Hey. Someone mentioned stowa. To be fair, Steinhart good watches they made. They are no longer the Rolex homage brand.

Feels like a big pilot size to me. I really like the sandwich dial and display comeback. Does it come with deployment clasp?
