Rolex just released its Basel 2017 models.
Happy ? Disappointed? ;D
-
Rolex ruined the Sea Dweller.
Cyclops? Upsize to 43mm? Sigh
RIP SD

The SkyDweller comes in steel as well. Finally stand a chance to own one.
-
So sad. Still no sight of Coke :Blue:
-
Disappointed with the inclusion of cyclops on SD.
-
seadweller is a let down ... and agree that ss skydweller looks pretty now !
-
Stainless Steel SkyDweller is
-
The steel/white gold blue dial skydweller is very nice.
-
Don't worry about the cyclops, easily removable
-
so much rumors about the coke GMT, but nothing so far

Sure, but that would bring down the value of the watch as well if you want to flip it. You know how Rollie collectors are particular about its originality. I was so looking forward to the SDc red-liner and even told my AD to reserve a piece for me, weeks back when the pictures started making its round. A 40mm SD4k with red-liner, would have been closer to perfection. Sigh, the uprated 43mm size plus that cyclops have kind of bastardise the long history of SD. At RRP : £8,350 (circa RM46k) before GST for the new SDc, consumers deserved better. No wonder a reader from my blog wrote to me that he was waiting for the new SDc and after knowing about the "upgrades", marched to the AD to grab the current SDc but it was no longer selling at the previous agreeable price as it was deemed a discontinued and classic piece now. So much for not charging a premium.
Having said that, the s/s Sky-Dweller at RRP : £10,600 (circa RM58k) before GST, certainly makes it more value-for-monies and attainable for the general public.

Does this mean that 116600 will be discontinued?

It's already discontinued and removed from the Rolex website. I thought of collecting the D-Blue as it was supposed to be stopped, but it's still featured on the site. 116600 is now an instant classic

awaiting for coke :Dancing_banana:

SD is not so bad I think.
I love the SS blue dial sky dweller that, I can see myself buying that.

Good thing you still hold on to your 116600. It was in production for only 3 years? 2014-2017, meaning the quantity will be lesser. Pls correct me if i'm wrong.
Most have anticipated D-Blue to be stopped as far back as 2014 but it is still in production till now.

Sea dweller with red word
-
Really agree with the Cyclops window on the sea dweller
a big turn off to me as well
I love the datejust 2 though with the improved power reserved!
-
The cyclops is blocking the whole view of the dial IMO.
-
meanwhile...the mercedes hands on YatchMaster 2...
-
new mercedes hands on the 2017 Ym2 is really a bad move :mooning:

agreed... the previous model blue hands much nicer
-
I hope they don't mess up the Submariner next year
-
Agree that Skydweller in SS and Datejust in SS, both with blue dials are the best in what is regarded a poor showing by Rolex. They could have done so much better for the SD being a 50 year anniversary and all but IMO they blew it.
I can see myself buying a Sky dweller as well.

Less 1 customer for SD, the 43mm is too big for me :( Any idea how tall is it ?

Should be as tall as DSSD.
-
Seems like this year Basel 2017 watches are aiming for becoming bigger in size and taller in height.
The Grand Seiko too.
-
Looks like it's reversing current trend of making forgiving size and moving back to bigger ones
-
omega hv the small 38-39mm re issue trilogy
-
They could never top their 2016 Rolex Daytona 116500LN this year. So why not destroy the SD. Lol
-
They diverized the Yacht master lol
-
Disappointed with the inclusion of cyclops on SD.
Same here... they really bastardized the SD :-(
-
as usual, Rolex just want to piss you off
-
Sea dweller at 43mm and with cyclops :(. I think I preferred the previous Sea dweller.
-
Disappointed with the new SD, less 1 here .
-
what about 116660 DSSD D-Blue? discontinued or still in supply ?

still in production

I was told 126600 priced at USD 11,000 during the launch. For sure this cannibalizes 116660 DSSD where it was reported poor sales record.
116600 is definitely a classic IMO.
43mm captures the gap where some find 44mm on DSSD is too huge and heavy. 126600 is gonna be an eye catch. Matter of the actual market price. Likely to be higher premium than DSSD D-Blue I guess..
Sky Dweller SS is a good move.

Yea your right. How can Rolex top SS Daytona C? I don't see any solution to this.
-
I take the Datejust 2
-
SD4000 still the best as of now...
