Vote for AP.

There is no competition here. AP all the way...

:D

AP for the win... far superior and resale wont kill you down the track if you decide to sell
-
AP launched new divers recently, u may consider it as well.
-
I think AP seems to the favourite because of it's name sake, not because Hublot is a inferior when compare to AP.
-
Well, AP uses an in house movement whereas the Hublot that you're considering uses a HUB4100 which essentially is an ETA. I happen to own both, both are equally well made but when it comes to the details...its got to be the AP.

i wouldn't say AP is a namesake sort of watch... look into the history and the manufacturing process... far exceeds the hublot, don't get me wrong I like hublot but they are not a equal comparison to AP.
They are a very young brand based on a lot of marketing... AP has pedigree and has been around a long time.
It's like comparing a bmw or a Mercedes to a rolls Royce or a Bentley.. all beautiful cars but the craftsmanship is different.. hand built VS mass produced as well

I once went to an AD looking at Hublot's Aero bang models, then I glance at an AP offshore diver. The salesperson then quietly removed the Hublots. When I asked why, he said that there is no comparison between the 2 and that AP is miles ahead in terms of quality and finishing (not to mention brand value).
So i guess its AP for me
-
Brand heritage there is no comparison between the two. The reason why I bought the hublot is pure aesthetics and also I admire J.C Biver, his story and his contribution to the Swiss watch industry. Without him things might be a little different today.

I almost bought the Ferrari ceramic/carbon fibre model a while back... its a beautiful watch and has the inhouse movement but .... for a watch that retailed over 100k+ and is now selling for 60k sort of proved to me that its a boutique watch trying to compete in a market that it doesnt have the solid reputation for yet.... for the same money you can get a Premium Rolex etc.... that will hold resale
I think give Hublot another 10+ years when all their watches have in house movements and milage under their belt and they will be up there as a contender
for now they are not a AP and wont be for another 80 years
-
My own conclusion is when you see someone with a hublot, he doesn't cares about resale value.

Base on current pricing for AP would it still increase in the future?last i saw a pre-owned diver was about 4+k now its around 5+k :o
-
AP diver all the way
-
Please don't get a hideous Hublot
-
AP for sure!
-
Why care a bout resale value if you think Hublot is more beautiful and it speaks to you? If talk about resale value who can beat Rolex?
-
The ap has a nice solid and robust look

Agreed... and if you really love the Hublot and are going to keep it then resale has no bearing here.... but between the 2 (as we are not discussing Rolex) the AP has resale all day long and very rarely go down in price..... everyone i know with a Hublot has lost money and will never get it back as they simply do not go up in value.
The first sign that a brand never holds its value is the discount the AD is willing to give..... if they are prepared to give 20%-30% straight up then you know its a good chance its gonna lose money when it comes to resale.
Another thing is when they market something as a limited edition or limited run but then the next year sell almost the same watch as a general production also kills its exclusiveness
these are just my opinions based on what ive seen and not etched in stone so take what im saying as my observations not the law lol!

Between the both, I'd go with the AP Diver over the Hublot.
-
Also do bear in mind the cost to service an AP.

If u wear a hublot from afar people will mistook it for an Ap.
But if u wear an Octagonal shape Ap, no one will say its a Hublot....
Just me and some friends opinion,
Regards.

Yes, have to agree on this
Just do some research before you pull the trigger
Both brands are nice actually
But AP will be my choice here :)
-
AP offshore diver all the way!!
-
coming from hublot fan - AP Diver wins.
Also price range far apart. Y la..
-
AP is an icon classic. Hublot is avant garde.

AP any day. You just have to put both watches side by side to see the contrast in quality and you'll know what i mean.
Plus, AP does have a better resale value IMO. But take nothing away from hublot, its design and material play is amazing.

AP !!! ;)
