Title: Number of jewels in the Seiko Kinetic 5M85 movement
Post by: meoramri on November 14, 2016, 02:43:29 PM
Been trying to search the number of jewels used in the 5M85 movement. Tried googling but can't seem to find the info I wanted. Only info I was able to find was for the 5M62 (6 jewels). Anyone has any insight on this movement?

I looked through my technical manuals and online.

It seems that the 5M85 is the improved version of the 5M65 with the base movement unchanged.

Therefore, its probably the same amount of jewels which is 6 jewels.

The only difference from what I know for now is that they changed the capacitor in the 5M65 to a LiIon battery in the 5M85 , which in their opinion has better charge retention (6 months reserve), better lifespan and of course, cheaper to replace than the previous capacitors.

If anyone has more information, do share.  ;D
