Did Malaysia manufacture it's own brand of watches? ???
-
I know some Seiko-5 is made in Malaysia. But its clearly not Malaysian brand.
For the person who voted yes, what brand is it?
Not talking bout homage ya.
-
One seller told me US Submarine is Malaysia's brand. There are using Japan & Swiss movement.
-
I know Casio use to make/ assemble some G-Shocks here. Seiko as well. I heard one Swiss brand manufactures its dial in Malaysia, but Malaysian brand, not sure.
-
Swatch use to contract out some of it's components to a factory in Ipoh.
-
so soon somebody in boleh land will 're-badge' some Japanese brand watch and called it a Malaysian brand....just like what they did to Mit Lancer... :Laughing_on_floor:
-
From the info i read in swatch group annual report. There is a micro-machanics factory somewhere here. If i not wrong it is in ipoh.

The owner of UN stays in Malaysia right?
-
hehe...just a joke here...
everytime i look at the watch brand croton... it remind me of "proton" :Laughing_on_floor:
I know it is lame... but it does tickle me everytime Ive see this watch brand.
No offense on the owner of croton watches though...
cheers

Not that I know of.
-
So brings me back to my original question, the 2 who voted yes, what brand is local Malaysia own brand?
-
As I said before US Submarine. Info from the seller who sell the brand.

Bro Duniajam, never heard the brand before. Any photos for our benefit?
-
DJ,
Nvr heard of US Submarine also. DJ- If can share pics, I am curious also.
I actually voted NO earlier but come to think of it it depends on what is your definition of "manufacture"? If you mean a pure watch brand like Oris/Tag Heuer/Rado,etc I suppose its NO. If you want to include parts being manufactured or assembled in Malaysia then I suppose its YES.
But what about some of the so-called fashion brands? Take Bonia for example- its a Malaysian co and brand ( company listed on Bursa ) and has a line of watches. My guess is that its manufactured in China under contract, but its still a Malaysian brand no?
-
You got the point  I just vote according from what I heard from the sell... Maybe Malaysia is assemble the brand & the seller claim it is Malaysia brand... but I'm still not sure about it. I will try to get more info.... ;)
here is the picture....

Borrowed pic
My father using almost the same watch for almost 20 years ago. To my surprise, the battery just exhausted last year! :o I knew this brand since I was a child. But the brand that day is not popular & just found in most pasar malam. The problem is I can't find the history or even the company website on the net.... The picture is just to share the brand name... of course the watch looks cheap, quality is not that good.... of course what can you hope from a RM30 watch... :)
But I can't source the new model that they have now... they got a such variety models nowadays.... Many watch shop in the North sell this brand. They got a very nice design & the quality I can say par with the Casio Edifice. The new model got many styling, complication & the price is competetive with the Casio. I hope to get a new pic of this brand. I can say very nice. They are using Japan movement & Swiss Movement & the logo also is different from the old one. Maybe they already rebadge the brand & made it in better quality using a better source from they had before & now sell in many boutique...
-
Look like Aquaracer from one glance.
Are you sure they are using Swiss movement?
-
Some use Japan & some using the Swiss. It is marked on the 6 o'clock. I saw both movement before. The Swiss movement has the higher value
-
The Swiss movement has the higher value
Like how much?
-
If I am not mistaken Rizon is an in-house local brand with Miyota movements...
-

About RM400+ only. Not too bad.

From 2 seller from different shop said, Rizon is a popular Japan brand.. But not that popular in Malaysia.

I would say its not Swiss. Probably China clone.
-
It's not that difficult to b Swiss MADe with the rules now
especially the Case can b made so cheap in china!!!
-

It is an Aquaracer homage. Pic of mine

Back to the original question. I suppose with Rizon/US sub/Bonia, Malaysia does manufacture watches after all, notwithstanding the fact nobody knows abt it
Malaysia BOLEH !!!
-
must be china clone..how can it be marked swiss at 6 oclock and deemed to be swiss made if it doesnt comply with the made in swiss criteria?
-
Be advise... It is marked as Swiss movement or Japan movement on the 6 o'clock just like on the pic. I'll try take some picture if I get the opportunity. Just like Sandoz which is either made in SG or HK. It is marked as Swiss Calibre or Swiss Movement... But the Titus... of course nothing mark on the dial. ;)
Whether the US Sub is really a Malaysia's brand.... I also don't know. ::) But the seller claim it is made in Malaysia. Maybe Malaysia just assemble it. I'll try get some more info about this brand.
-
aight ;) but it looks as like a homage to the tag ;p

Got some opportunity to snap some picture of this brand. This model look very familiar to the Casio Edifice. I don't get any chance to snap other model on the display. This model is using a Japan movement (6 o'clock). They don't have the model that using the Swiss movement, so I can't show you. Need to go to other boutique...

The seller not sure where the brand is made of. But the seller is sure that the movement is Japan made. They got many models from RM50 to RM300+. I must say they copy many design from the other brand. Some model looks like a Swatch.. homage??? ???

This is what I mean. The model really look a like the Casio Edifice. The US Submarine sell for RM288 & the Casio sell for RM500-600+ (if I not mistaken)...
-
This reminds me of proton
-
;D ;D more like P2 AND proton...
hehehe
This reminds me of proton

So since Bedat & Co has been sold to Luxury Concepts Watches and Jewellery Sdn Bhd, Do we consider Bedat & Co a Malaysian manufacture?
-
I met one shop that sell the US Submarine a few weeks back. The info that I got is still the same. It is a Malaysian company brand. But now I manage to snap the pic of the watch with the Swiss movement.... The price is not really different between the one that using the Japan movement... which is I think a Miyota.

Not sure whether the info that I got is true or not. Because some seller did not know about it & some seem did not know there are 2 movements available for the watch. ::) I think no body care about it... ;D
