Title: Online Purchase vs Buying at Physical shop...which one cheaper
Post by: mnazri.tan on September 23, 2016, 04:24:37 PM
I used to think that it is cheaper to but watches from online store than normal shop/boutique.... Used to...

It is true in my case back in 2009-12
I got my ecozilla at 800++ brand new whilst it sells for 2k++ at midvalley Sg Wang back then...

Also got a few GShock online that is much cheaper than at store(back then)

But nowadays, i noticed that shop actually do give discount and if u pandai bodek, u get good deal... Plus u can inspect first before buying...

I only recently realised that Shop do no sell at tag price. There is almost always 10-15% standard discount... And u can always sweet talk some of them for more

My last 2 purchases was at physical shop and it is actually cheaper than online...  Whilst 70% of my watches do come from various online store and it seem cheaper at the time of buying...

On the other note, since discount is almost confirm sure dapat (unless u buy from watch shop at Parkson) , the value of it is not really what stated at tag price... Say it is 1k and for example a Tissot Brand... And since they will almost always give 15% discount... It actually worth only 850... Sàme with big brand like Panerai,Rolex, Tag... Sure got discount kan???

Anyway back to the topic, what is your opinion on this? To buy online or offline? Which one is cheaper

My experience is online more expensive due to the credit card forex rate is higher and the courier charges, not to mention I need to drive far to collect the watch from the Post office custom department.

Yeah that too... It add up to the cost... But i think some brand is cheaper online if u know where to get...even with courier cost...

And some brand seem much safer to buy online direct from the source, like SEVENFRIDAY and DIETRICH... As i heard there are high quality replica sold and mix with genuine item...Some people cant tell the difference...so safer to buy from their own website...i think la

GS is one model is generally cheaper to get on line. Also, certain Prospex watches are also the same especially the SD movement models.

However, you guys are right. It is now cheaper to get from shops for many brands. I suspect, most AD are now willing to give a lot of the merchant discounts to buyers. Just less profit

For me,G-Shock and Seiko are cheaper if buying online. I buy those brand online nowdays. I never buy Swiss watch online cause worrying about the warranty and the authority of the seller.
