Well I am not entirely new here...
A friend ask me to recommend, but I am not really into watches nowadays, I have not put on any watches on my wrist since mid last year, nor own any watch now.... i only depend on my phone, though i was a collector before .... Thus I think I cant give good opinon anymore...
So if you guys could recommend base on following spec
Budget - RM 4-5K
Entry Level Swiss Brand or perhaps Japanese
Something that could at least retain 70-80% price after say 2 years
Automatic or Hand Wind
No preference on ETA or Selitta (or even the japanese made) but surely not Chinese movement (Seagull or anything else)
44mm diameter at minimum
No preference on type of watch (pilot, dress, diver, etc etc)
TQ

Buying New or Used?
If used, Mido and Maurice Lacroix is well within 5k.

An entry-level brand that could retain at least 80% of its initial cost outlay, after 2 years. This should be interesting.

A tall order indeed. He could however keep eyes peeled for a limited run launch at a crazy good sale. But that again is an unlikely scenario.

Watch with that budget can consider german. Stowa, Archimede, Laco, Sinn, Damasko. Should be within the budget depending the model.
Most of the brands stated should retain 80% of its value depending on model. Some will not even lose money if cash out.
I dont understand why the need for swiss made.

Lolz.. Provided can find a buyer..
IMHO, Just save up the money for something Better in future.. Meanwhile get either a Seiko presage (approx rm3K to 5k) which is quite value for money or a seiko divers such as skx 007/009, or prospex..
Save budget around rm15K to rm25k for something nice ! Lolz

If preowned, I will buy Ball EHC.
If brand new, I will buy Seiko Sumo (prospex ).

Off course selected model tank better value than others. There's quite a demand for them.
Much like you asking TS to buy a Seiko, a non seiko collector will not pay for it too.
