Hi Master from MWF, can share your knowledge and experience for preowned Rolex Sea Dweller 16600 ?
I want to buy a Rolex 16600 old model with certificate to wear & keep, is this a good investment ? Or betted buy a Brand new, I went to Rolex Boutique for he 116600 ceramic bezel selling at RM38K & no discount. I think is too expensive for the brand new.
Please give me your comments ! Thank you in advance !

first thing first, most of us here concurred that watch is not a form of investment.
16600 is a solid watch, do factor in 2k service cost at RSC, then is good to go.

If the crystal has no chipping, then like what CK mentioned, do factor in a servicing cost of RM2k+. So whether the SD 16600 makes a good purchase or not, largely depends on the price that was offered to you. Pre-owned Subs (depending on year) are going around the RM20k+ region and SD normally has a premium over the Sub, so it would be good value for monies if you could get a pre-owned SD with full boxed and papers (and if there was a servicing chit within the last 5 years, even better!) at around the used Sub pricing. You just have to hunt hard enough. I always preferred the SD's more balanced, Cyclop-less look but as it was not easy to source for a genuine SD16600 (worries on Franken-parts, etc), I opted for the newer SDc 116600 and no complaints with this piece. And coupled with the 5-year warranty, it makes a great buy compared to the previous Rolex warranty period.
If you purchase from certain overseas AD (from experience), you could get a better price. Locally, the SDc does not come in high nos and foreign tourists find our watches here to be cheaper due to the low MYR Forex, so bargaining power for rarer or sought-after models are low. Just the other day, I was at a Rolex AD in KL, and 3 Chinese tourists walked in. One of them asked for a "Hei Gui" (Black Ghost), which I later found out from the Manager that it referred to the SDc; and the AD had a piece. The Manager informed that it was selling at retail price of RM38k, which was good news as it was selling at a premium previously; and the Chinese tourist calculated the Forex on his phone and whipped out his credit card, saying to his friends that it was cheaper here compared to China.
For the diver genre, I would opine that the SDc and Sub would always hold their value quite well  Good luck in your hunt!

Rolex 16600 service costs start from RM2,300 (before GST). I just checked with RSC last week as was thinking of sending mine in.

If for Rolex services, I am not worry about the cost, because my friend in Rolex service line more than 40 years & his price are reasonable & affordable.

The sub is a more comfy watch to wear than a 16600 or sd 4000 due to its case back. A new sd 4000 cost
Less than the lv hulk in the grey. Regards

116600 / 16660 / 16600 is a very nice watch IMO.
Since the price is very competitive with its sibling Submariner, i would go for the SD.
I personally owned a 16600 as a daily watch before and kinda missed it haha

The value of the 16610 and 16600 are almost on par in the pre own market . I owned the dssd mk 1 and 2 and 16600 3 times , they would still be in my collection if I feel comfy with them i. Instead I kept the 16610 lv.

You can try grey importers, the price will definitely be below the retail price.
