Anybody in the forum happened to somehow get it already? Could you share pics? Your thoughts? Doesn't have to be a full blown review. Previous posts have been mentioning that they are "killer" "beautiful" etc, but honest first hand opinions of actually owning one would be nice.
Thanks.

Damn that John Mayer with his your body is a wonderland voice! :Scolding:

I find it rather distasteful when John Mayer and Benjamin Clymer start talking about prices of the watch. Obviously they're doing native advertising, trying to boost up the price higher than retail when mentioning about how the watch is actually 30k and 20k usd in the market.
Let's be real, the watch only added a black ceramic bezel to it. No horlogerie advancements have been made to the watch. The movement is originally from a Zenith if I'm not mistaken. Rolex produces around 800k watches a year, where companies like Patek would take a year to create a watch, they could possibly do the same within 2 to 3 weeks. What Rolex does better than everyone else in the market is spending on their marketing. Getting the likes of Federer, and now John Mayer and Ben Clymer to promote the watch like little kids going into the candy store is quite an eye sore for me.
Don't get me wrong, I'll likely get one just to sell to someone who is willing to fork out the extra dough for it ;D

Daytona used Zenith EP from 1988-2000
Subsequently Rolex using their own movment until now.
-
I stand corrected. They are using a new in house movement for their chronograph. Caliber 4130. Seems like a good movement and serviceable. The finishing is so-so and are made from 201 parts (very minimum components for a chrono). This is the same chrono in the 116520 though.
-
Unfortunately their marketing has gotten to me. Lucky for me no appetite this year. :'(
-
Saw 3 come up on the grey market all black dials though and trading around 20k USD, 1 from DavidSW sold already. 2 more haven't confirm their sale.
White dial should be worth more.
-
You talking about Takuya? He hasn't set his price yet. Bloated prices for these guys. Pretty sure if you just wait a few months on it you can get it for below 50K from an AD if you placed your name early.

Indeed...but some very rich people are crazy enough to spend that much on a mass produce watch... Just for bragging right....for usd20-25k, i would rather have a Patek!

Just to bring back some memory, when they launched the green glass mil gauss the price was push up to rm40k by buyers.
Today u can get a pre own complete set for around 20k. No pre own Daytonas can match the value of the pre Paul Newman era
at present or future.
The 116520 Daytona are even selling cheaper than tha DSSD in the pre own market.
The only difference from the 16520 white dial is the ceramic bezel.
The only outstanding part is the one piece movement 4130 with vertical clutch, column wheel and 72hours pr.
If I'm a first time buyer of this range of 50 to 70k , I would love to view the 41mm octagonal bezel chronograph first
before il pul the trigger.
If the demand stop so will the premium . These are just my own personal views and the choice are always with the buyers . Regards

Well said, bro. I will not pay the excessive premium just to get one in advance of others. Just my 2 cent. :)

I never noticed this previously but on the rolex forum, someone mentioned that the Daytona Ceramic case has not been updated to the Daytona Platinum... and pointed out the asymmetrical lug thickness. Now that I have seen it.. it does look kind of weird having one lug thicker than the other.
Asymmetrical

The watch wont be symmetrical cause of the pushers on the right. You're saying that the lugs aren't symmetrical? Maybe my eyes aren't that good. But is it? Can't really determine.
Btw, the platinum daytona is 50k usd plus. Tunku Idris, the son of the Johor Sultan has it. You can see it in his instagram account.
The normal daytona is around 4 times cheaper. I'll take the asymmetrical lugs for the price difference ;D
-
Ail Along the ss 116520 Daytona lugs on the pushers and crown side are thinner than those two on the other side.
I haven't seen the 2016 SS model yet, but what a shame if they still uses the SS 116520 casing on the new release.

Yeah, the asymmetrical lugs are fairly obvious once you see it. It's a shame they didn't take this opportunity to update the case.
-
Grey market dealers lowering price of SS Daytona ceramic black dial, seen one on sale for 17k USD. it did not move yet.
-
It'll move closer to the retail price soon as Rolex start delivering new stocks to ADs. Afterall, there arent that many crazy buyers out there that are willing to buy soon to be mass produced watch at double the retail price.... Personally, even if the grey dealers sell the watch at retail price, i would rather wait and buy through ADs....

For the 5711, is that what the AD or boutique are asking for??
-
Hi are you mentioning the SS 5711 with steel bracelet?

Yep. That's the prices I've seen so far. Bizarre isn't it. My wife doesn't like the Nautilus though. Nor is she a fan of the Daytona. I think she hates watches lol

The best article I've read on the Daytona Ceramic

Change the bezel and a couple of mini tweaks, and people go ga-ga. Lol :Laughing_on_floor:

I would think the hype is huge at the moment because of Rolex finally gave their customers what they have always been asking for. I was wishing that Rolex introduced the ceramic bezel on the steel Daytonas back when they released their Cerachrom models. Now I am just going to wait till the price has stabilized before I acquire one.

No offence, Rolex is a beautiful timepiece and this particular model is stunning but i have to agree on this fellow member lol

I reckon the stainless steel bezel will be more sought after some time down the road when steel bezels make their return to fashion.

LOL. I will definitely not buying it at RM76xxx regardless of sought after and beauty it is.
-
As this is not a LE model, just need to be patient and it will be relatively easy to get. Within 2 to 3 years it should stabilise

no I paid 14,272 AUD after GST claim. so approx. 44k-45k ringgit. no way id pay premium for this yall.

I feel like the hype has dropped down now. And people are realizing that they shouldn't pay the premium for the new Daytona. The older Daytonas, to me, are much more beautiful - specifically the 6263. (let's not dream about getting the Paul Newmans) Maybe the rings in the middle aren't my cup of tea. Prefer the full 'panda' circles.
Nonetheless, congrats again bro!

Not sure whether the hype dropped or not but prices have certainly come down a fair a bit. I remember davidsw sold the first few pieces over 22k USD then it drop to around 19k USD now brand new black dials he selling for 18k USD. I seen him sell a second hand black dial for 17,500 USD. Still premium though.
