Hi guys
Wan to know how ur guys pay for a luxury watch above 10k
Wonder how they bought a watch about 100k???
By credit card? Or???
Just wondering
Hehe
-
As I know, black card has no limit ;D
-
I think I would have to pay by cash unless you want to lose the 2-3% credit card charge.
Of course if you really cannot wait and have to have the watch like NOW NOW and still have not save enough then credit card and instalment is the way to go but i don't think this will work for me.

Cheque or online banking would be ideal
-
Sorry I misread your question.
Bankers cheque for me. Safe for all parties.
-
I see
How about buying an pre owned watch if the price was over 10k?
Bank draft?
-
bankers cheque or Bank Draft same thing.
You incur a small commission fee at the bank very small amount.
You can hand over the bank draft and take the watch in exchange on the spot if you are happy after inspection.

Great question there. Would you guys consider Paypal or another similar company called Payoneer? I somehow feel safer paying or receiving money for transactions through them because although a small fee is incurred, the safeguards for the seller and buyer gives me a peace of mind I wouldn't otherwise have with wire transfers etc as there will be no one to arbitrate disputes. What do you all think?

I go for cash...
few trips to the shop. I don't mind the hassle of going few trips as I enjoying visiting the shop and test the watches each time I am there. :p

Have paid through Paypal before, though not a large sum. Yes there is buyer protection but the fees can be quite hefty if the amount is significant (unless you pay as gift, or seller is willing to absorb fees). Also Paypal usually sides the buyer, so some sellers may be reluctant in case they get scammed.
Most important is to buy the seller. I would be wary of sellers who do not have solid reputation and track record.

If new at shop, I normally pay by credit card (unless they could do better with a cash sale, in which then I would oblige).
If pre-owned watches, the ones that I have dealt with were mostly by cash and/or bank draft. I always ensured that the monies were safely in hand/bank prior to delivery, except for a couple of cases whereby they were known parties or had good references. Then I had not mind the clearance period. I have been fortunate that almost all the parties that I have met had been sincere WIS

Bank cheque or cash

Credit card. 5x points. Even with the current rate it will get you about 300 ringgit in shopping vouchers if you buy a 30k watch
-
Cheques are only RM0.53 for any amount transaction.
-
cash should be better way when u need little more discount.
-
How did u carry so much of cash?

I use something regularly referred as "pockets" and "man-bag" :Dancing_banana: This is a Friday, chill mate!

For watches in the RM10k region, i normally pay via cash. I have never bought a RM100k watch outright. I normally do a trade-in and top-up the balance or I go via a lay-by.

Credit card for points, I'm cheap

i managed to get rm300 ringgit rebate from using credit card for my rolex. :P

100k normally people pay by bankers cheque, or Interbank Giro.
They usually pay a percentage of the price as a deposit as booking, then they will pay the remainder by the above methods.
After they will go collect the watches after the dealer confirms payment.
-
Do a online transfer and collect watch on the spot.

Very good advice

ALWAYS buy the seller. ALWAYS ask for people's opinions on a certain person. If someone can vouch for that person, that's even better. People who are in the watch 'game' or heavily into the watch community value their Brand name more than a few thousand bucks.
I started off as a newbie and still am. But I do everything to make sure that I build up my Brand name. I make connections with the JLC Boutique, when I sell my watches I provide more than sufficient information on how I purchased the watch and why I'm selling, heck I even gave the person whom I sold my watch to the invoice of purchase (has my address and tells how much I purchased the watch for). A little overkill.... but these are the lengths I'm willing to take to ensure that people trust me.
Trust works both ways as well.
