I have a dilemma - well don't we all - but I would like your input just to get me going the right way.
The dilemma is that I can make a trade plus cash towards a dream watch for me - the rolex explorer II (1655), if I let go of my newly day date 1803 (complete package and everything /NOS) that I love very much. The watches are two different beasts.
The swap is like day date 1803 (B&P) + 5k euro (7k us) for the 1655 (with nothing)
Lets say I'm very close - just need a little extra push.
My pro and cons.
Pro the swap:
The 1655 have been on my radar for many years - but the prices are just to high to justify (for me)
The 1655 is makrI/II straight hand
The 1655 is with original band
The 1655 is with a dial/hands that is just perfect.
The 1655 in this condition is for me diffecult to find.
My 1803 don't get the wrist time it should
I can always find a used 1803 again - maybe not in same condition but close.
My 1803 is NOT a favorite by the wife wink.gif
Money spend will be forgotten
If I don't do it - will I regret it wink.gif
The 1655 will get more wristtime than day date.
Cons the swap.
I can maybe find nice 1655 for a little less - guess I pay 3k euro for the perfect example and straigt hand
My 1803 is NOS - and just perfect
I can save the money to get a other watch ..
As you can see I have a dilema -but can find most pro for the swap.
Now for some pictures - please note the the orignal 1655 band is not in the picture - and the new oyster band will not be included.
My 1803 (NOS) - with B&P

You really like Steve McQueen? Lol.
Ok swap it, seriously.
your 1803 is a new watch,or nos, u wont lose anything to swap with a 1655, that's a no brainer.I would weight this as pro rather than con. You know, even I regret the swap,is more easy to get a 1803, and orange would be very easy to sell also.

Totally agree with @Forces908.
Seriously I think it is a fair deal and the right decision without going into the details.
It is so rare for a vintage piece ticks all the right boxes. Go for it!

+ 1 for 1655 :)

Perhaps consider selling the 1803 separately rather than swapping? Not sure if that could be better $$ wise and if that's even on a table at all.... But both are very nice watches!

Don't know much about those watches but the 1655 looks like the better one.

Thanks Friends.
I think I might just hold on to it a little longer then probably swap or sell it out.

All this while, I was under the impression that the 1803 would fetch more than McQueen. Something new to me (I did a search on chrono and yeah, McQueen is around 5k more)
You are right in that the 1655 probably gets more wrist time as the 1803 just doesn't fit normal occasions.

Worth to swap it
