Hi all,
For those who are plain curious, adventurous or the die hard DIY'ers, today I'm making a tutorial on how to change your watch battery.
As we all know, the shops outside charge double digits for a battery change, but actually if you get the battery yourself from those electronics parts shop, its only a one digit price.
If you have lots of battery operated watches, then it would be reasonable to purchase a set of tools required, as it will pay themselves over many times.
So here's the tutorial:
1) Gather all your tools, battery required, and of course the watch.
Tools required: Caseback wrench/ case knife (depending on caseback type), screwdrivers, case holder clamp, blower, toothpick and tweezers.

2) Using the toothpick, disengage the spring bar holding one end of the bracelet to the clasp.

3) Clamp your watch securely in the watch holder clamp.

4) Using the caseback wrench, open the caseback. Or if its a snap-back, use the case knife.

5) Now with the caseback open, using tweezers remove the gasket for cleaning and regreasing using Sillicone Grease.

6) To remove the battery, in this watch note the clamp over the 4 o'clock area of the battery. Using a toothpick, push the clamp out of the way, and the battery will pop out on its own.

7) After removing the battery, open the package of the new battery and pop it in, ensuring that the polarity is correct. To install the battery properly, using the toothpick, pull away the previously mentioned clamp, and let the battery drop in. Then release the clamp, ensuring that the clamp is securing the battery in place.

8 ) Turn the watch over to inspect whether the watch is functioning correctly.
9) Using the blower, give a cursory blow to the interior of the watch, removing potential debris. Reinstall greased gasket and hand tighten the caseback first. Finish tightening with the case back wrench.
10) Remove the watch from the case holder and set the time, date and check other functions as necessary.
11) Reinstall the springbar and attach the bracelet end back to the clasp.
All done.
Notes:
Ensure that you get the correct battery size for your watch. If in doubt, open the watch and look at the markings on the battery, eg. SR626SW, SR927 etc.

Sure, will post one as soon as i'm free.
There is no particular technique to using a case knife, but you have to make sure you locate the cut out notch in the lip of the caseback first. Thats where you insert the case knife to leverage.
The notch is more visible in casio watches. Citizens are rather hidden, so you have to use magnification to locate the notch.

I have a few quartzs. sometime feel ripped off by the watch shop when changing the battery. how many type of i.e Renata battery for common ETA and Rhonda quartz movement? Any difference for chronograph movement?

There are lots of battery versions. You need to either google your movement calibre or best of all open the caseback to see the battery number.
Renata batteries can be had at suppliers in KL. PM me if you want to know.

Update.
Today I'm gonna feature another type of lesser seen watch caseback nowadays. It was more popular with vintage watches, although Swatch still uses the same system now.
How to change batteries for watches with Battery Hatch:
A battery hatch is a separate port on the caseback where you can access the battery without opening the entire caseback.
1) Find a suitable coin to fit the slot on the battery hatch. For my watch, a 20 sen coin fits perfectly.

2) twist in the direction indicated by the arrow on the hatch or beside it.
3) the hatch will pop open, remove with tweezers and put aside.
4) turn the watch over and the battery will drop out.

5) remove the new battery from the packaging and insert it in the way the old battery was inserted.

6) check the gasket on the hatch before reinstalling.

7) to reinstall hatch, put it back on the hole and slowly adjust and twist it with finger pressure until it engages the thread. Then only tighten with the coin.
