Hey guys!
I'm planning to purchase my first swiss watch with a budget of 2.5k and below. I'm new to the scene or rather know nothing much about these watches, so any tips/watch suggestions?
Prefer automatics over quartz though. Thanks!

You need to be more specific. I'm sure MWF members here willing to help. Either you are looking for sporty watch, dress watch. Range of diameter. Metal bracelet or leather strap etc. This kind of topic had been discuss a lot in this forum.

Agreeing to spacewalker. Do lots of readings and narrow down ur search list. All mentioned by spacewalker are 'worthy specs' to consider. Perhaps something that fits in all situation for a first timer? And has to be perfect in a sense? after a couple of homework days, it will come in to u bro.

Hmmm.. Yeah I guess I should take some time to read up on what interests me first.
Probably by then I can come up with something more specific! Will do some homework within the forum for now thanks guys :D

Cheers bro. As for me, I got my eyes on dive watches always. Classy and match my need whether I'm in suits or in jeans. Happy hunting bro.

Hard to find a decent automatic for below 2.5k. Maybe a Tag Heuer? I'd probably save up to 5k and try to get a better watch. Think you can find a pre-owned Nomos for 5k.
Regards,
Adam

I would say welcome firstly and you are entering into a zone of no return. You will start with some chepaer automatics and it will spiral quickly to other more expensive ones....so be forewarned.
A good intro auto I would say is Tissot if you wants Swiss. But I urge you to take a look at some of the Japanese domestic Seikos, there are well within your budget and is quite reputable.

First... Welcome!! Actually depends what you want? A Jap or Swiss or German or China.. Narrow down the option then it is easier for you to choose.
2.5k for Swiss, you can go for Tissot, Mido, CYMA, Titoni, Ball (after discount, maybe) F.Constant (saw one after discount around 2.5k).
2.5k for Jap, always go for Seiko, Orient or Citizen (not much choice on automatic, I think. Eco-Drive)
2.5k for German, go to red army watch shop.. You can see something there.
Let skip China for now.

Agreed abice, mostly jap and german can meet your expectations. Swiss may need to add a bit though

Thanks guys for the warm welcome! Didn't expect to have such greetings in forums :D
@Kesharoo
Yeah that's a really common thing as I see from other forum posts, who doesn't want a nice upgrade once in a while right? ;)
Thanks for the suggestions of various brands from different origins guys! Will look into them and compare when I have the time. I am actually a fan of Orient the first time I bought it for my girlfriend, and very reasonably priced too! Sadly I've tried some of the watches but they don't match me somehow..
Been comparing Jap brands for a while now, but nothing eye-catching yet, still looking! Currently looking at Tissot since it's been recommended for newcomers into the scene and recommended by my colleagues as well. As for brands like Titoni, Ball & F.Constant... I really don't have the courage to even enter the shop :-[ Maybe in the future but not now I guess..
Any specific German brands I can look into perhaps? Not too sure which are German ones though.
Will do more research and thanks so much guys!

u may also look at Certina, Hamilton and Junghans. I don't own one but have been repetitively exposed to them. From my judgement, they do make good quality watches too.
-
If i were to choose a watch with the budget,
Dress watch: Seiko Cocktail time (since u like Orient watches), Hamilton Intramtic (if u dont mind 2 hands), Junghans and Certina
Diver: Seiko Sumo, Steinhart (if u dont mind homage) and Certina

For German brand, and something value for money, take a look at Archimede, Stowa or Laco.
You can have a read on this thread too if you keen to know more about Stowa.

Stowa & Laco always a good choice but the budget will get a bit higher.
Lower budget - Zappelin & Junkers, made in Germany, but most of them are Miyota movement.
Check it out

get swiss either tissot or hamilton

There are some really nice Junkers/Zeppelin automatics in around that price range at Red Army Watches - that'd be my recommendation. Or a Seiko.
