Title: Tag Heuer can't keep up with Smartwatch demand?

I thought this might be interesting.

• Apparently since the Tag Smartwatch was announced in November 100,000 units have already been ordered by dealers.
• Tag has increased production to 2000 watches/week and still cannot meet demand
• As a result Tag is putting a hold on sales, only dealers will receive the watch for now.
• Tag CEO Jean-Claude Biver has indicated Tag will do more smartwatches starting 2017

Looks like the Tag smartwatch is a lot more successful than I thought it would be.  I still feel a smartwatch dial cannot look as beautiful as a real dial.  The Tag watch is also large at 46mm.

What do you guys think, is this demand much higher than you expected?

IMHO, initial demand is because its a first real watch company that is making a smartwatch (as opposed to handphone companies making smartwatches).  But IMHO it will never beat a real mechanical watch. A mechanical watch you keep for years and years.  What happens to Tag Conected when in end 2016 they come out with Tag Connected 2 (with better graphics?) and end 2017 they come out with Tag Connected 3 (with better speakers?).  Do you still love your Samsung Gear now that Gear 2 is out?  Do you still love your Pebble now that Apple Watch is out?

not a fan of smart watch as I dont see the personal touch. Likewise, I agree on kopykopy's commenta as this could probadly just a trend which last a certain of period

Im not a Smartwatch fan but i could add one in my collection for a better price which is having almost/having same function as the Tag Heuer Smartwatch. Tag have beautiful movements, i would rather go for those models with that range of price than this Smartwatch. Any how, its Jean Claude Biver. He's the #1 behind watch brands marketing IMO. He's the man behind Audemars Piguet, Blancpain, Hublot and Tag. Most of them went through success having him around. He must know what he is doing, maybe Tag is facing financial issues? ;)
