Title: Omega Moonwatch Ref 311.33.42.30.01.002 vs 3873.50.31
Post by: antoniosaprozeld on December 06, 2015, 07:27:56 AM
Hey guys..

Since swatch group is gonna increase its prices, thought its timely to get me the moonwatch..

So the sales guy recommended i get the 3873.50.31 instead of the 311.33.42.30.01.002 coz its basically the same watch, redesignated reference number, but the 311s come with the special box while 3873s come with the old PU box..

So the question is,
Would u pay rm2000 for a new reference number and the special box? Granted the special box is much bigger with nato & astronaut strap plus a loupe.. but its rm2000 extra?!

Appreciate ur thots pls

I feel that the rm2000 is worth as only the omega oem nato strap already cost alot. BTW, mind to PM me the % of discount does omega boutique & AD give as I planning to buy the dark side of the moon. Thank you.

the nato strap is rm500+.

why are u not looking at the version with bracelet?
then the upgrades would be slightly more substantial as the bracelet has the newer screw-in link design rather than the traditional push pins.

Yeah.. its only worth considering if looking at 311.30.42.30.01.006 bracelet model..

I asked a shop & they said the cheapest nato is rm850.. thats one expensive nato.. i suppose omega logo on the tang buckle and all the holders?

i believe the rm800+ nato is leather, not the nylon cotton whatever fabric.

My humble opinion, I buy the watch for the watch. Not what comes with the watch. $2,000 is a lot to pay for a little extra. I know the boxes will go deep into storage after I have the watch on my wrist. I know I will not want to sell my watch after I have bought it unless it is for an upgrade. So I would pay $2,000 less and treat myself and the family to a nice meal or a little getaway.

Regards,
Patrick

Not that i dont agree but just to put the points out there for consideration..

U should only consider d bracelet version..

U should consider if ur the type that changes to the Nato and velcro strap.. we established the Nati strap alone cost rm850..

U should consider if ur a flipper every few years.. i believe pre-owned buyers would look for these unit over the normal box unit.. it would either give u better retention value or at least it'd be easier to move..

unless the prices has drastically increased since launch then im pretty sure the nylon is still rm500+.
afaik, omega here still havent adjusted for the currency increase yet, which will only happen mid-jan next month.
anyway, easiest way is to call the boutique and ask.

Based on omega forum it seems that omega is starting to replace the red pleather boxes that self-destruct over years.
This box is currently used in the Globemaster Master Chronometer.

Well, took the plunge.. paid that extra 2k for d newer bracelets that i kept virgin unused, astronaut strap that i'll never use, the nato strap that i immediately put on to be used & ooooh that special box feeling..

Lemme share some shots;

This box is genormous
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/12/5696e812cfcd1ee79a5ce0b6e8b9d58b.jpg)

But subtly elegant
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/12/8e9b92324082f1122c4897d82f85a181.jpg)

The watch still in its plastic & stickers intact
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/12/97079261bd09ccbe2acb020c256a69e1.jpg)

The new bracelet feels solid and world of difference with the previous one
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/12/1e5e35bd4ba0cd5e10bf5c0a37946f6c.jpg)

A pic before i swap to the nato
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/12/b2a68361e3f0689670cc1e2dee02c666.jpg)

Thats the full set with newly styled warranty cards
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/12/a62ad11b58e8ca44a3d08ba25b2c762d.jpg)

Nato shot on the way home
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/12/12/186fb13ad9671b4e1c5c21a2c1082903.jpg)

Sprained wrist (not from lifting special box lol)

All in all i felt its worth the extra 2k.. i know this special box makes it easier to sell especially with my unused new bracelet with all links & stickers intact..

Good choice. I envy the plethora of straps and tools that come with the speedmaster pro. Was excited at first when the AD mistakenly took out the box for the current Speedy Pro and saw the contents therein when i bought my Dark Side of the Moon only to be told that it was the wrong box.

the last price increase i think is around 2012...i dont recall any during 2013/14/15.
but the way it looks now is that a price increase only comes with an updated model, like being updated to a master co-axial or getting a big fancy box.
hence the newer aqua terras are more expensive, likewise with the new speedys.

So basically since this moonwatch model introduced in 2014, no revision in price apart from gst hike..

It seem that it is cheaper to acquire omega in Malaysia for eg Dark side of moon,

Malaysia retail 38k & 41k if pair with deployment claps.

USA retail 12k = rm50k.

Hopefully no price adjustment in 2016.

Very nice. I went to one today and they told that price is going to increase 7% (less or more). I am looking at the speedy 40mm racing steel in steel all black. It comes with Omega 3330 movement. I tried on the moonwatch & speedmaster 57- both are too big on my wrist. I decided to go for the racing as i dont wanna a manual winding model. Hopefully they got the silver bezel option for the speedy racing model. Too bad as it is in aluminium bezel which might be easy to scratch. I found there is a replacement of the bezel aftermarket. Well, price is increasing!

Congratz to your purchase,  this is a watch that we shud keep one simply for the honour to the exploration spirit of human being.

For mine i like it hard beaten and pair with a distressed looking leather racing strap
