Title: Explorer 1 - Servicing Charges?
Post by: kopykopy on November 13, 2015, 10:21:53 AM
hi, my 10 year old Explorer 1 Ref. 114270 is in minty condition.  keeps time well but when I manual wind it with crown, it is not so smooth and with a bit of friction.  The winding sound is also louder than my other rolexes.

(1) Has anyone experienced this?

(2) Does it need a service? (bought it pre-woned and do not know service history)

(3) How much for a basic service at KL RSC for Explorer 1 Ref. 114270?

(4) Any other alterntive service place besides RSC?

Thank you.

Just called up RSC to ask about my question (3) above.  For basic service is RM2247.  Wow.

RM2.2k with parts can last you 10 years, at least, and 2 years international warranty.
Think about it.

It might sound pricey but i've send my watch for service few times at RSC and some other CHEAPER service center. So much comparison, Rolex take care of your watch much better. Besides, i even had my watch in bigger problems after sending my watch for service to the cheaper service center.  :)

My Vintage 1601 sent to RSC in 2009 basic service was RM 1250 estimated costs
with parts RM 5xxx , too expensive for me sent to third party still working fine cost me RM 400 change main spring return to me broken into 3 parts.
