I was looking for a JLC master control but it just wouldn't pop up in the used market. A dealer told me he could get a master control for me today, but suddenly the owner of the watch sold it by himself :( i ended up getting a rolex explorer ii with chapter ring to help me get by.... Until the JLC will come... :-\

cool..lucky u..mind sharing how much a used explore cost theseday?

Sure. This is a white polar explorer ii 16570 with the chapter ring. Not sure if it's caliber 3186 or 3185. My gut feeling tells me that it has the newer caliber 3186 because of the chapter ring.
Bought it for 15.5k ringgit pre owned from Hang Thai using credit card (i'm a sucker for points). Hope this helps

Nice watch!

I was in your shoes exactly 6 months ago. And in Hang Thai too. The Rolex I bought then lasted only 6 months, sold it and got a JLC Hometime now.
Finally the JLC itch is scratched, at least for me.
Anyhow, nice catch and wear it in good health.

Hometime function is pretty similar to GMT, nothing much to it. However, JLC does it different where the skeleton hour hand is hidden and that's what's impressive about it.
The squadra is a beautiful watch, albeit big. The JLC movements are excellent, never had any timing issues with them, only drawback is the steel which I find quite soft and easy to scratch.
-
That JLC hometime is awesome! Think i'll save up for a Master Calendar or MUT Moon ;D. Then maybe after that save up for a Lange....... My my.... What have I gotten myself into....
-
Hang Thai is in Bangsar Village shopping mall. One floor above cold storage
-
You can opt to own another JLC and keep this awesome explorer...
-
Haha unfortunately I'm a one watch kind of guy. Decided that I just want one luxury watch and it would be a dress watch. A watch that I can pass down to my son when he graduates one day (he's only 11 months old lol). Maybe a JLC for now... But in the future definitely want to get either a Lange or Moser or something. :)

Fantastic dial. This is the current model right? I recall they had an earlier model with asymmetrical dial. Though I do wish they'd use a more interesting font for the home time and second numerals.
-
Yes this is the current model. The beauty is in the simplicity of the dial coupled with the blued hands for 24-hr timezone and 2nd time zone skeleton hand.
It's the less famous model because of the plain looks of dial but having done more research on it, the movement used sets it apart. It uses the JLC Calibre 975H (autotractor, H for the movements with 2nd time zone) which uses a balance spring supplied by A. Lange. This is exclusive to the JLC 975 movement only.
You can read more about it here:

Added a strap. Don't like the feeling of steel

Agreed. The steel looks better, but, it's personal preference. What really matter is you like it and it makes you happy.....nothing else matter

day by day , it is like I spent more and more time browsing Rolex watches. I used not a Rolex fan before. Maybe it is a time, for my first Rolex :) Rolex Explorer II.
