Hi guys. I know this topic a bit 'cliche' , had already talk on this forum again and again, and the answer for this topic is also might be subjective, but I need a help, a suggestion for my next watches purchase :) from MWF members.
My budget is around 10K.Targeting the middle range brand , being browsing the several website recently make me either to choose the brand new or opt to the pre-owned one. Got my eyes on brand new Breitling Superocean II 44mm or preowned Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph 44mm. Those is quite nice watch but I'm sure there is a plenty better choice out there that I haven't discover. I'm looking for:- 1. sporty watches
2. Not a chronograph 3. Diameter at least 43 - 44 mm 4. Automatic
-
Quick suggestion, pre-owned Omega PO or IWC Mark 17.

If you are into breitling's design, just go for it! I have one avenger seawolf blacksteel and i love the breit! Extremely well built and sporty.....That's my favorite weekend watch.....
Coincidentally, i have one grand carrera gmt too.... Which i like as well.... But if i havent bought the grand carrera yet and i have to make a choice between the GC and the iwc pilot, i would have gone for iwc pilot instead.... Tag is nice and good quality too but value retention is not one of its forte!

Hi nikfs1881
That Baume et Mercier in my list before. Lost interest because of very snobby salesperson. Not so many watch shop have that brand. May you pm me the budget for that capeland. I like the one with blue dial :)
I like the new Superocean II. The thinner bezel but the dial a bit busy. Typical Breitling trademark I think. The automatic Colt is nice but not really like the bezel design.

hi TJWN
Nice armandnicolet, heard that brand before but never had a chance to view it in person. That really suit my budget? :)

Have you consider tudor brand? They got quite a few nice looking watch. Try have a look for heritage chrono, fastrider or pelagos for diver.

I owned the Black Bay and Pelagos, and I would give a +1 to the Pelagos.
1. sporty watches - Checked
2. Not a chronograph - Checked
3. Diameter at least 43 - 44 mm - Checked (42mm without crown)
4. Automatic - Checked
5. Date - Checked
6. Prefer rubber strap - Checked (includes both bracelet and rubber strap)
7. Crazy bright lasting lume - Checked
And you could get a pre-owned at your budget too. Good luck with your shopping!

damasko? hardy watches... you may opt for DA range which is well within your budget or the DK range if you can add on... fits most of your criteria...

Got my eyes on brand new Breitling Superocean II 44mm or preowned Tag Heuer Carrera Chronograph 44mm.
What about Avenger II Seawolf? Very solid and well built, and dial not too busy, with military font style arabic numerals, some more comes with certified chronometer compared to Carrera. I nearly pull trigger on this after trying it on my wrist during watch shopping before GST, at the end "tak jadi" coz price is way above my budget :'(
Carrera Chronograph is also good but I feel that it's a bit "sien" already, may be it has been around for quite some times (no offense to Tag lovers).

Avenger II Seawolf are also in my list , the price also a couple hundred more than the Superocean but the case is very thick 18.4 mm. Maybe to withstand the water resistant is 3000 m :). I have to try all those model in person before decide which one should I choose.
-
I'd go with Tudor as well.

Azimuth?

Perhaps Seven Friday or Ball?

Perhaps Seven Friday or Ball?
Ball is okay but personally i wouldnt recommend SEvenFriday for the OP......sevenfriday is below rm5k instead of rm10k and not meeting the price point provided by OP. But again, personal taste differs across individuals, that's just my 2 cents

ADD ON - Ball Fireman (Storm Chaser) - Checked for everything, comes with rubber strap
- Tudor Black bay - Checked for everything.
- Tag Hueur Calibre 5 - Checked for everything, comes with leather strap
- Chopard Mille Miglia GTS - Checked for everything - Price higher
- Mont Blanc Timewalker Voyageur UTC - Checked for everything - kind of leather strap
-
IMO Ball Fireman (storm chaser) will fit most the character that I'm looking for but it is hard to find those Storm Chaser. Most shop have a Storm Chaser Pro which is 42 mm. Seven friday and azimuth is extremely unique in form of shape and movement. Make me think twice to choose those brand. I think I'll play safe this time. Chopard Mille Miglia GTS is very nice. From the info I read, it use in-house Chopard movement. I'm not sure the MSRP for that model for sure it is higher than my budget. Thanks for those comment, and sorry cause I'm quite picky when choosing watches :)

Sevenfriday's miyota movement unique?

Sporty watch, tag will be just fine... But consider tudor as well, great designs.... Keep hunting till you find the right one.
-
Sevenfriday case shape is unique, not the miyota movement ;D, I'm also try to avoid even a swiss movement if ibeats lower than 28,800 vph. Azimuth with movement with one hand, anti-clockwise is quite uniqe and new to me.
-
hi there
i think for 10k u can consider looking into bell&ross or a tag.
both good value for money

Higher Bph doesn't guarantee accuracy.

Dietrich is cool
As compare to 7friday,
The case is more solid, the visual more impactful with its 3d multi level construction

the Omega PO beats under 28,800? I didn't know that. I'm not really into accuracy. I have own Tissot with basic ETA of course the accuracy not reach to the chronometer level. Plus there is lot of factor determined the accuracy of mechanical watch. I love the way 28,800 vph watch second hand beats at 8 times to complete the one seconds. It looks smoother move than 21,600 vph movement.

the omega PO actually beats at 25200.
i think currently the only omegas that beats at 28800 are the chronos, while the last 3-hander ones were about 10yrs ago in the 2500B movement found in the aqua terras / constellations.

as mentioned by some brothers here, Bell & Ross, price around 10k and it is a good piece, you have plenty of strap to change for different look and feel. Also there is plenty of pre-owned pieces going for less than 10k.
-
Top up a little bit and go Tudor Pelagos.

or top up by just a little little biit and go for a Tudor Ranger.
-
I would look into used tudor black bay, omega seamaster professional...or even a new longines legend diver. Not a big fan of brietling or bell n ross. No offence.
-
Tudur North Flag is my new favourite
-
My choice would be a Breitling or a JDM seiko like MM300. Good luck on your hunt.

I doubt you could get a decent Breitling for less than rm10k....unless if it's used or the quartz model which is not that appealing compared to other choices like the black bay.....

I'd add a couple k & go for preowned omega speedmaster or tudor blackshield or cartier santos XL..

P :thumbsup:reowned Tag Heuer Carrera
-
You can get a good condition preowned Omega Speedmaster Professional for less than 10k. But because our currency is weakening, plus GST and insured shipping might increase the net price significantly if buying from overseas.
-
Pelagos at AD open price around 15k and they are still carrying the old model. not sure now they have new stock....that was last month.
-
My hunt is over but with a dissapointed ending. The lesson that I learnt , buy the watch from a company that everyday they put an effort continuously improving their watch QUALITY, especially with a functionally design and of course a well tuned reliable movement. Do not influenced by their multi billion advertising campaign only.

What exactly do you mean by disappointing ending? Which watch brought you sorrow instead of sheer pleasure?

Interesting conclusion although still grey. Am interested too on which watch did you ultimately went for and why the sorrow?
-
Can try Bremont, Ball Hydrocarbon series, seiko marine master 300m.
-
I think a Tudor or Pre owned Omega would be the way to go. If you're more dressy, Nomos is around that range.
All the best
-
Around 10k, for tudor u can get new black bay from AD, but u have to nego hard coz most AD does not give any discount on tudor now, if got only 5% (coz rolex sister's company, they trying to use same approach as rolex). Try tag, they recently released aquaracer with ceramic bezel, quite a beu..or oris (u can get good quality with good bargain). Ball also has a few good choices

saw many good pre-owned watches at MWF recently... :Dancing_banana:
for RM10K there are plenty of choices...eg. Maurice Lacroix, Oris, Tissot skeleton, EPOS, B&R, Tudor, Omega Quartz,
Tag, Fortis, etc
-
hmmm....i think can get a entry level maurice laquiox
