Hi guys,
Need your opinion.
Both are nice watches. Both ETA movement.
What would you choose.
Used Omega No papers from one of the companies listing on Mudah
New Longines Legend Diver from AD.
I already have an Aqua Terra Steel (Captain's Watch)
Appreciate any feedback
Thanks

Careful dealing on mudah. Buy the seller.

I'd buy brand new from AD as well...
-
New LLD for me
-
I wont be able to sleep buying from mudah unless I can bring the watch to the service center to verify authencity before purchase unless you are an expert in this watch and can spot the fakes vs the real !
-
Between both watches, Omega Seamaster Professional would be the more collectible one so my choice would be easy. As Alex says, buy the seller, not the watch. Or bring to AC for the verification.
-
Thanks guys.
Sorry what do you guys mean by buy the seller?
Yups the LLD is Legendary. Because both are ETA movements that's why i really need opinions
Thanks guys

I sold off my Seamaster Professional 41mm for RM4.8k with box last Sept. On hindsight, I would have kept it in my collection as it was more wearable compared to my subsequent XL diver watches e.g. Seamaster Planet Ocean 45.5mm. And the wavy details on that dial was simply mesmerising. Having an ETA movement is good news to me actually- it's a reliable and dependable workhorse that is the backbone of the Swiss horological backbone, and easily-serviced anywhere.
Buying the seller means to assess the seller first. Ask for his name card and check his credentials. If he has title(s) e.g. Tan Sri, Dato, etc and/or is of a higher work class e.g. Director, GM, etc and/or knows about his watches (engage in a dialogue with him- most WIS would be willing to share their knowledge and talk about watches until the cow comes home), then you should be in good hands. After all, these people are unlikely to risk tarnishing their reputation for a mere tuppence. But if the owner acts shifty and/or doesn't want to give his name card and/or knows nothing about his watch, then I would have red flags raised upon. Just my 2 sen.

Thank you for your detailed reply.
Cantik.

Bro Ramses. If you have the money it's safer to buy new from an authorized dealers. At least you can have peace of mind. You want to enjoy your new watch and be proud that you owned a piece of authentic watch and not worrying about it. My advise to you is buy the LLD now and then save money to buy the SMP later.

If it was the same SMP as mine i.e. with the wavy design, then I'm afraid he could most probably only get it used as it has been long discontinued. This model was a collectors' fave as it was the Pierce Brosnan's James Bond piece.

Even if it's a old model, it's still safer to buy from a reputable shop or AD that sells pre-owned. At least you know it's authentic. Pay a little more for peace of mind.

My view too - buy new, unless you can trust the seller!
-
For me, legendary Seamaster anytime!
-
One vote for LLD ;D
-
LLD, and not from Mudah unless the seller is trustable
You seems to really like the Omega to even contemplating buying online, maybe skip both and save for a new Omega
-
Thanks again guys.
Another question, I've never seen an AD that sells pre-owned.
Is there 1 in KL?

Do COD in the AD and immediately ask to do servicing. Prepare extra 1k.

Try the merchants listed in this forum... so far, most members, including me, have found them to be very good and honest business people.

rm6k? tough call.
the omega is definitely more comfortable on the wrist.
the longines with its higher caseback and longer lugs, kinda doesnt work well with a smaller wrist unless u like floating lugs.
in the end, i guess buy whichever makes u happy.
-
New LLD without a blink ;)
Sorry to all Omega fans out there, this Omega SMP just...just......didn't work for me, or borderline "ugly" to me ;D
The Planet Ocean is another kind of animal though...
-
I will not buying from mudah.my...
If used omega, suggest cod and nego with seller to bring the watch at omega service centre for quick check. Otherwise, I'll skip and better look for merchant from our mwf...

LOL, to each is his own, but I had both and I felt that both had their own strong points. To me, SMP was more of a dress-diver watch (kinda like a Submariner) while PO was more of a serious tool watch (kinda like a Pelagos).
-
hmmm, definitely worth it
-
Or maybe u just have save another few more months for a new Omega SMP..

I'd do this if I like the Omega very much. Else, I'd just get the LLD if I were you.
-
but of cos, rm6k or less can also get the 2254 ;D

This is what I want. I don't mind getting it used. The black SMP is a dressy tool watch.
But then again the LLD also cantik...
Arggghhhh
Thanks again for all the comments
-
Go try out both on your wrist and see which one nicer and more suitable. If you are still undecided, buy both, or don't buy at all and start to look at other pieces.
-
Buy both

I own an Omega SMP 2254 and I used to have an LLD No Date, I shall just share my 0.05 cent :)
Aesthetically speaking, I prefer the LLD No Date.
I like its super compressor design, domed glass, and shiny case finishing (but not the hands).
However, if I would to buy a LLD, it has to be no date. To me, the date window completely ruined the design.
If I would to choose between an SMP and LLD, I will ask myself whether it is going to be my only watch / daily wear / beater / swimming buddy. If my answer is any or all of above, SMP 2254 will be a better choice - it is a sturdy, well made, good looking watch that fits all occasion. The LLD No Date, on the other hand, is not a beater, it looks nice and needed to be baby.
1. The case is polish and shiny. Hence, prone to scratches;
2. Its inner bezel is next to useless. Aesthetically, it is beautiful, but not practical at all;
3. The lume is bad;
4. Compared to SMP that is on a bracelet, the LLD leather strap is prone to wear and tear.
Coming back to the black SMP 2254, it is, to me, one of the best watch within its price range
Just my 0.05 cent

Thanks for your honest opinion. That was very useful
-
save the money and get the Omega PO 8500
-
I will go for omega for sure, still saving up for my first omege
-
Of cos new Legend Diver
-
New LLD for me, personally I don't like no papers.
-
Hi guys,
Thanks again for all your great views & opinion.
I decided to pull the trigger and bought...
NEITHER one of them.
After extensive research and looking at the watch in detail.
I bought something that looks like a combination of a Seamaster, Brietling with big numbers and the Black Bay.
I bought the new facelifted Longines Hydroconquest, which is half the price of a used Seamaster and uses the ETA-2924 movement.
Value for Money
