heard that earlier !

the fact is tag sales been declining over the yrs from their PEAK

in recent yrs, they been pushing to high tech and higher price

sales dropped means market not willing to pay higher price for tag.

other brands in tag original price range is getting a bigger pie

i belief the group is asking tag management to go back to their strong price segment, which is more affordable range!

with CEO resigned, strong man from group to be new CEO, executing what the group wish tag to do

price to be lowered back to what they strong at
not to cannibalise with their brother brand within the group

in fact - im more keen to see the development of TAG on smart watch since they announced their partnership with IT giants and going for ANDROID

When I was young, I thought Tag was the best watch because brad Pitt and dicaprio was wearing it  ::)

When I get older, I was like  :P

I know what you mean. I was so proud to wear the Carrera because they were the brand ambassadors. Now, I have all but flipped off the Tag except for the Kirium Ti5 McClaren. I mean, just imagine, Tudor came out with the Pelagos in Grade 5 titanium in 2012 and people went, "Wow, creative usage of material, bla bla bla...". (Don't flame me, I actually like and own the Pelagos). The Kirium Ti5 was made with Grade 5 titanium case and carbon fibre dial years back... between 1999 - 2005!

I still like Tag, it's my first Swiss watch, however they released new model quite often, make me feels that my watch went out of style so quickly, I still remember when I bought my Tag, after 6 months they released new model and my watch no longer in their website, become obsolete...

Good move! They should go back to being the "first luxury watch for the working class". To be the first in mind.

Not so sure abt the repositioning that comes with the smart watch venture. Might dilute their image.

I was like that too..To own a Tag was like owning a BMW at the time..Where to own a Rolex was just a mere dream..& Names like AP,PP, Lange etc wasn't even heard off..I still have1 GC calibre 8 & 2 F1 models though..& the F1 model is the only Tag model that I'll ever consider to purchase in the future..

Although in actual fact .. they didn't sacrifice their quality.
But reducing your price ...gives impression that your product lower standard also.
Marketing psychology.....

I don't get that impression at all.  That would only be the case if one thought that Tag watch prices reflected the value of the product. And we all know that isn't the case with luxury goods.

Agree with Femann.

Tag owner who wish to flip their tag will feel the impact more..
Tag pre-owned selling the same amount as Tag New watch
Surely, Buyer will think is better to buy a new than pre-owned..

True for us enthusiasts. But I think the majority of watch buyers are not flipping their watches that often, so probably not a concern for the majority of owners.

Wandered into a TAG store some weekends back and was mildly surprised to note that the ladies Aquaracer had reduced (significantly!) in price. I think that should be the correct way for them. I wanted to get an Aquaracer for my so about a year back, but balked at the price tag. Immediately scrapped that idea, and never looked back.

Now that their base models hover around the RM4k range, I think it is worth considering again.

went to the Tag boutique at Gardens last week to resize my bracelet, the ladies quartz is lower, but the men's (checked out the new Aquaracer and Carreras) had a price increase instead...

the new Aquaracer is now RM7.8k compared to 2013 Sept, the previous version was around RM6.8k

If not mistaken the latest 3-hands Aquaracer bracelet is RM7850 during Dec 2014. After that not sure any increase/decrease since didn't shop around.

if that's the case, it went down by RM50  :Laughing_on_floor:

but i didn't ask if the price was inclusive GST or not, if yes, then there's really a price reduction
