Title: Charging a SEIKO Kinetic using a Braun tootbrush induction charger
Post by: meoramri on February 22, 2015, 12:32:40 PM
I have 2 Kinetic watches that I seldom wear. Letting the energy deplete completely in the capacitor could weaken it in the long run. Hence best practice to always keep it charged.
To buy a SEIKO dedicated charger is very expensive. So, after trolling the web saw this cheap way to get the same result.
Use a Braun tootbrush induction charger to do the job.

Put the watch like so...

Within 24 hour watch has a charge rating from 0 to the 20 minute mark.

Not necessary. This is the beauty of induction  charging. It only needs to be in the induction field created by the generator.

(additional info) Overcharging is prevented since Seiko does have an overcharging limiter in their Seiko Kinetics.

Apologies for bringing a dead topic on online.

With the launch of the Apple Watch, you now have the option of using the  inductive charging pad provided with that watch to also charge you Seiko Kinetic.

I personally have not tried it but would love to know if anyone with an Apple Watch plus a Seiko kinetic could conduct the experiment and share the result with the forum.  :Praying:

Just an Update:

Since I got the Seiko Kinetic Charger (see: http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.php?topic=17008.msg143971#msg143971 (http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.php?topic=17008.msg143971#msg143971)), I noticed that the best way to placed a kinetic watch next to a wireless charger is with the dial facing closest to the charging plate.

I tried it with my Braun charger and it works. I suspect using the iWatch and Samsung chargers would also work.

Another rule to remember is to just keep the watch on the charger in 30 minute intervals.
