Title: Need Opinions Regarding Seiko Bullhead
Post by: cklim on February 15, 2015, 07:08:20 PM
I'm thinking of getting a Seiko Bullhead from my friend, but his Bull had been "sleeping" in drawer for more than 15 yrs, only to see light again when i visited him few days ago.
It's no longer accurate as it runs 3 minutes slower within 24 hours. Beside this, there are some other problems:
1. Left pusher is sticky.
2. Dial is moving whenever i press the crown.
3. Dial is a bit dirty, might be due to worn luminescent.
4. Right sub-dial is not pointed at 12 o'clock.
5. Small ding on glass near 4 o'clock.

His asking price is rm1.2k, i wish to ask sifus here especially Seiko fans:
1. Is the asking price justify?
2. Roughly how much will it cost to service and rectify above problems?

Tqvm.

1.2k is definitely too high for such a piece.

If it is a perfect working piece then 1.2k is ok, but with such problems 700 should be more appropriate.

As for rectifying these problems, what you need is a total overhaul of the watch, costs ard RM 180.

Dial moving can be fixed.

Pusher sticky may be dried gunk and lube. Overhaul can fix it.

As for the glass, replacements are hard to come by these days. Most prob need generic glass.

Hope it helps.

Nice watch btw.

Hi JeepWH,

Thx for the input. Will ask him whether he is willing to further reduce the price.

BTW, any reliable repair shop to recommend around Klang Valley?

Was browsing around n saw this chat... nice bullhead specimen there. Only replacement I can see is the glass. Other than that..... all configurations seem good n went through a test of time. At that price, I wont say it is ex  nor cheap. If the resets are all good it is still a fantastic piece. Main thing is the new owner enjoys wearing it.  ;)

Cheers,
AC

Was bit excited when saw the word "sleeping" but the outer condition seems to suggest it went thru quite a lot. Perhaps it went into slumber towards the later part of its years. Hope the movement is in better shape.

Good luck! Pls post more pics if you manage to buy the watch.
