Anyone have any experience ordering a watch from the US, and having it sent over via Fedex or DHL? I see watches are listed as being exempt from duty, but i just wanted to make sure that Fedex/DHL dont try any funny games.
It is my girlfriend's birthday coming up, and i want to ship her a watch as a surprise. It costs $5000, so I definitely do NOT want her to end up with a massive customs bill when she gets the package.
Thanks!

Do not worry about customs duties.
Taxes are exempted.
Normally DHL/Fedex would give u a call just to confirm the contents, just tell them.
If it is sent via USPS Express which will be passed to poslaju, then they might ask you more detail questions.
Worse comes to worse is they will tax you for the leather strap (if the watch comes with leather strap)
My experience anyways. Good luck and congratz to you girlfriend.

I've shipped few times via fedex, so far so good

Watches are tax free for now but just beware and to share my experience only not against buying from overseas. My previous purchase from US via USPS got lost and that was a long process in tracking the missing parcel and claiming insurance. The parcel was finally declared MIA. The whole thing took 2.5mths before I got my replacement watch.

If its shipped via Fedex or DHL, be at ease. They are professional and fast. Normally, today send tomorrow reach.
As for taxes and duties, now should be ok. No taxes, but after GST different story.
