Title: Hi everyone :)
Post by: sathi34 on December 09, 2014, 05:49:58 AM
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie in anything related to watches and watch collecting . Came across this forum and learned quite a lot about watches. Thank you MWF.

Thinking back, it's been more than 10 years since I wore a watch! Yes, can you believe it, more than 10 years not wearing watches (I'm 27 by the way). I was that kind of person who always felt there's something on my hand when i wear watches. But lately, I've been fascinated about watches and watch collecting, and been through this forum everyday. I guess it's never too late to fall in love with anything :D

Do you guys have any sugesstion on what kind of watch to buy as my 1st watch after 10 years? It is either buying a preowned watch from this forum or buying a new watch from Seiya Japan. My budget is 2000, being that i want to start from below

Hope to learn a lot from the members here. :)

Hi and welcome.

Like you, I'm relatively new in this forum as well as into my watch collection.
Before focusing on your budget. First of first, what kind of sizes do u like and what is maximum case size u can wear?
Secondly, what genre are u looking at? Something big n bold like a pilot? Or rugged like a diver? Dressy or sporty? Or something that's simple yet classy? Or a timepiece that looks complicated enough to feel more than its actually priced?  ;D ;D

After these prerequisites are set for yourself, u should be able to get more specific recommendations from fellow members here.

Hi KimmJio,

Nice to meet you. So many things to consider haha. Well, medium size is my preference, and I like Seiko. I like the pilot and diver models. Actually I have my eyes on a particular Japan Market only model, Limited edition:

link to commercial site are prohibited

But I find it hard to decide, is it better to buy a new model, or to buy a better preowned model that is below market price?

welcome to the forum, as Kimmjio mentioned put your budget a side and list down your requirement for the watch if not you will go nowhere.

Seiko is good watch which ranging from few hundred bucks to few hundred thousand bucks :o. Apart from seiko, you may consider orient and citizen. Most important is make sure you are happy with what you bought.  ;)
