Title: Which is your preferred daily beater?
Post by: peanut on August 07, 2010, 09:12:10 AM
I have been looking for a daily beater for some time.  My daily beater should be tough (can withstand some abuse).  In addition, it must be beautiful and nice to look at.  I really like MIH for its simplicity but toughness I am not sure.  GS SBGE001 is still top on my list but also the most expensive and it may be too much to use it as a daily beater.  The other Seiko SBBN013 (tuna) is a good option.  Damasko is tough but not as "pretty" as the rest.  Sinn or Glycine is always good option.

Which one would you choose?

perhaps I'm biased as the U1 was my ex-daily beater.  ;D

as claimed. As a beater, its hard to beat

I am the only one who voted for the MIH hehe.
The story behind the way is so great.
Also the annual calendar plus chrono is useful.

My requirement for a watch that can b called Daily beater should at least the following
gd water resistant
anti magnetic
shock resistant
easy to read
for all occasion
gd lume
scratch resistant
accuracy
low maintenance

I voted damasko but I prefer dc67
or a ball spacemaster x lume
it is the only watch qualify!

I don't really have a daily beater. I rotate my watches for the week. If I go for a trip, I will take my Fortis or BP. I definitely love to wear my sub as a daily beater but I'm afraid of sending out wrong messages.

I'm surprise that u choose BP for a trip watch, it is not gmt, with leather, huge n not tough...

Why BP?

I am also rotating my watches to wear but it is a bit of an issue for me when travelling.  For example, i wear my AP RO for this short trip to Manila but it is not ideal.  I will most likely get a tough GMT but good looking watch for travelling.  GMT is a nice to have but not really a definite requirement though

I put on a BP becoz I tend to forget to wind the watch (if manual) and the PR (my only watch has tat) tells me how much power left. On top of that, it has 7 days PR, so I have no worries that the watch stops unexpectedly. the PR really helps when u go on a trip coz u will pay more attention to your trip as compared to ur route to your office.

GMT is not a big issue. I just adjust the time before I got off the plane. If needed, I will adjust again. It is a tough watch, but just take it attracts a lot of scratches if not careful. So far manage to avoid major scratches :)

I do agreed it is better to have bracelet rather than  leather but then hey, BP comes in leather strap only and I want to take my BP together with me for the trip :)
