The reason why is that I've recently send the watches for restoration and the cost to repair both is rm 1.5k as both of them needs to undergo overhaul, battery changes and gasket.
Is it worth repairing?
I apologize in advance for the lack of photos regarding the models of the watch presented

If the watch has no sentimental value to you.. Not worth it bro
-
Thanks for the reply! Apart from the sentimental value, you're suggesting they are charging too much? In what area though? Can I get these two watches restored at a cheaper price??

the reason is, for 1.5 k, u can get another 2 similar watch new or some seiko automatic
-
I think the charges too high.. you may try to look around for more quotes.

I have a vintage Longines from my father which needed overhaul, battery change and gasket too, but the main problem is the battery melted in the mechanism, so it is going to be a very pain in the ass. I sent it to Swatch Group, and I only got charged a mere RM700 for everything. Longines, Swatch Group, RM700. No particular reason why you should be charged that much.

Ahaha.. I see. Thanks for the info!! Any recommendation to any watch service shop??

Very expensive.
Where r u located?
-
not worth it as the repair fees kinda overcharged, unless both watches means alot to u..
-
Unless the watch is of a certain sentimental value to you, for d price quoted, u have plenty of choices for a new watch whether automatic or otherwise. But if u still want to repair it (it is your money after all), do get a few quotes from a few shops n I belive u can get it cheaper.

I'm from KL. I went to pj to get the quotation
-
Oh, i see. Did you try the one in Amcorp mall. Last time I went seems ok.
-
Yup. Try the one in Amcorp mall.

Like everyone else has mentioned, if there is sentimental value attached to it then do consider restoring it.
However IMO the price quoted to you - 1.5K for both seems to be in the high side. :o
Have patience, you will find the right watch maker that will do a good job with the right price.

Not worth to fix, try to source the similar one. Unless those watches are memorable to you....

Personally i would not spend that much to repair them- reason being they're fashion pieces. :D

Fashion pieces, so what? They are still watches, made by watchmakers, and should be respected no matter what. Every watches are unique in their way, special in their way and definitely must be respected. Yes, even michael kors.

Exactly. Its up to the owner. that's why i said "i personally". Ughh. Try controlling the urge to lash out at others, buddy before going on a crusade to defend something. Geez.

It takes a lot more than being mere watches to earn my respect. Unless the watches have sentimental value to the owner, I don't see the logic in repairing them as they are indeed run of the mill fashion watches with no Horological significance...IMHO.
