Hi dear Sifu's
I am thinking of getting another watch which I have no problem with the selection. At the moment i am keen on either of this models Pam190, Pam425 & pam424.
But rather I like to learn more about the reasoning to buy a 5 year old watch ( 190 ) vs new ( 425/424 ) in terms of maintenance and longevitiy of the watch or any other thoughts ? I dont place much weight on limited edition and out of production of the 190 as I am buying to wear and not a collector. So more on the other areas like praticality and such.
Glad you guys could help and expand my thinking horizon on this matter.

If you buy preowned, the price will be lower. However, there is the risk that the movement may be damaged but no one knows. Unless theres evidence that the watch has been overhauled.
New watch, pros are the manufacturer warranty, it obviously new.
In the end its your call.

if the preowned condition is mint, why not. Polish case and service movement doesn't cost u sky price anyway as per my experience

Buy pre-owned only from a reliable source, otherwise the savings are not worth the headaches and troubles. New watches will age with you and develop their "characteristics" as you wear them.

He is talking about Panerai. The service cost at the AD is like :o

If i am in this situation, I still go for the PAM190. I loved it and still do. The 424 and 425 cant hold a candle to the 190. The 8 days JLC movement and the simplicity really does it for me. Having said that, a new watch is protected by its warranty. So unless the PAM190 really chokes your sanity, the 424/425 will be fine.

Thanks for the sharing.
Gmac- If the Pam190 is in good condition now working I mean than later breaks downs. This break down could happen to any watch correct ? All we could do is just inspect that no visual mark of the watch have been dropped or dented as precaution.
Cost for service for other watches and Paneria is big difference ?
