Thinking of flipping my other bigger watches to get preowned 36mm rolex.
Between the datejust and explorer 1, which one will be your choice and why? would like to hear your opinion and feedback.
Thanks :)

I am in the same conundrum as you and would like to hear what the sifus say. What I do know comparing the 2:
Explorer
- Great history to it on expeditions and such
- No date function
- 36mm models are normally around 10 years old and only sold pre-owned
- Nice uncluttered dial
- Better lume
- Oyster bracelet is more robust than Jubilee on Datejust
- Better resale value
Datejust
- Date function with cyclops
- Jubilee bracelet is nicer when used as a dress watch but tends to get loose with time
- Many dial versions to choose from
- Lume is practically non-existent
- Resale not as strong as Explorer 1
- More easily available than Explorer 1

My choice would be a 36mm DJ, TT preferably, and for simple reasons:
1. the fluted bezel is a Rolex DNA
2. same realiable movement as the Sub - 3135
And if you are getting it pre-owned, it's a great value!
Cheers!!

I have the same situation as you,
Thinking about for so time, as its not easy to find a good pre owned Explorer 1.
Have been looking for some time, finally I get the new DJ.
DJ is equally comfortable for me.
But after getting this DJ my search for good pre owned Explorer 1 is still on. ;D

thanks for very informative comments :)
tried both explorer and datejust 16234, quite surprised that the explorer 36mm wears smaller than i thought on my wrist (my wrist is small btw probably 6.5 inches) feels like a woman's watch.
the datejust wears better on my wrist and feels wider despite the same diameter probably due to the fluted bezel which i like :)

prefer explorer

I have the exact same wrist size as you and I understand the problems of having a small pondan wrist. Anything above 42mm looks cartoonish.
Anyhow, went with a 41.5mm JLC Dualmatic today and couldn't be happier.

Hey gunnroses small wrist doesn't mean a pondan wrist as I have a small wrist too. Wait till you see the other "wrist" . I believe you too gunnroses.
;D

I don't think you can wear a watch on the other 'wrist' if I understand correctly to what you are referring to. ;)
