Hey all, just got a new acquisition last week, and its one of the most iconic Seiko's ever made which is the legendary, SKX007.
This model was produced with numerous calibres but the design remains the same, currently its still in production AFAIK.
Last week, I bought one of this watch off Mudah.my, for a bargain at RM250. Its pre owned and full of scratches but these can be fixed. The movement runs well and it comes with a Z-22 rubber strap.
After my exams end in November, I plan on refinishing the watch case and conducting a full overhaul of the watch myself, including crystal replacement. Will follow up with part 2 of the post then. Stay tuned, in the meantime, I've attached some photos of the watch as I got it last week. Enjoy.

Stay tuned for the transformation guys, until then....wish me luck. ;D

actually the skx007 has only ever had 1 caliber in it, the 7s26.
previous models like the 7002 which the skx replaced in the mid 90s, to the 6309 etc may have looked somewhat similar but there were still obvious differences.
-
I give you all my moral support.
Please take pictures before and after
I think MWF should engage you to give us a workshop on this at its head office.
Go brother go

Rare and nice piece.. congrats

New to this forum and nice project to work on bro. My Seiko suffered a deep scratch on the crystal during site work, between 12-1pm area. Been in that condition until I read your post and decided to give it a nice clear crystal and a new rubber strap at Thong Sia. My hands are not nimble enough to operate on the watch. Now it is back to its original glory and getting some wrist time. Hopefully the pictures will turn out.

Gorgeous work mate.

Finally finished the project.
Things I've done:
1) Replace new crystal, and new crystal gasket.
2) Replace new caseback gasket.
3) Hand polished the case.
Note: The crystal requires a crystal press to install, many thanks to a local watch repair shop who done it for free. He's a very reliable guy and has a huge range of pre owned watches including vintage seikos for sale. (PM me for more details and his website)
Here are the photos. Very happy to have a new watch to wear. ;D

Hey bro, dont you want to consider an oyster bracelet?
And with solid end links?
The bracelet is half of the watch IMHO. ;)
