Title: Seiko in Tokyo & Osaka
Post by: mike on October 04, 2014, 03:47:30 PM
Hi fellow members,

I'll be heading over to Tokyo and Osaka next week. I've been thinking about getting a Seiko JDM since quite a long time ago and now seems like a perfect opportunity.

Sadly, because I'll be heading there for a conference and only for 2 days and there won't be much time for shopping. The biggest chance for me to stumble upon a watch shop should be when I'm in the airport (if there is one). I would appreciate for help and guidings from any fellow members that has ever purchased a Seiko JDM watch from a watch shop in the Tokyo airport.

Anyway, the watch I'm interested in would be the SBDC001 "Sumo", I'd appreciate for any comments and reviews (most importantly the quality of the metal bracelet) good nor bad about the watch, and how well would it fit on a 7.3" wrist of mine.

Here's a sincere thank you from me, good day.

Hi mikster

Its a nice place to visit in Tokyo and Osaka

Which airport are you departing? Haneda or Narita?

How do you get to Osaka? By bullet train or domestic flight?

Or perhaps are you flying out from Osaka, Kansai airport?

The model Seiko Sumo is usually available in the popular watch store in Japan.

The most popular watch store that you could visit are BIC CAMERA or YODOBASHI. They sell almost everything and they have a watch department in the shop itself and have many branches in Tokyo and Osaka. These two are usually situated at the train station or within the vicinity.

If you are taking a train between Tokyo and Osaka any major station stop you should find out the store by asking the Information counter. The bullet train station that you take the train is Tokyo station and there is one branch there. You could check their branches from their website if you have to take off from other station.

Last month when I came back from Kansai Osaka airport I can't remember if they have a Sumo there but there is one Seiko Shogun. Most of the watch shop in the airport that I observed have dress watch and not many diving watches.

In Haneda airport I remember too mostly dress watch when I was there in February. I have never seen a Marinemaster in these two airport.

Having a bigger wrist like yours the Sumo suit you well. I find it a bit bigger on my 6.5 in wrist. But I like them.

The setback is the accuracy which is not within the COSC that's all I can think of.

Here are 2 wrist shot. I have replace the bracelet from those of Yobokies.

Hi Yoda, thank you for the reply.

I will be departing in Narita Airport, taking a bullet train to Osaka. As far as I'm concerned I will be in a huge rush to travel because of the time factor. Only time free is when I am flying home from Kansai Airport.

The Sumo looks beautiful on your dear wrist. Thank you very much.

Yoda,

Any specific recommendation for Grand Seiko range of watches in Tokyo, both new and vintage?

Also there's the article of the year from Hondikee about Lemon

Hi sidestreaker

I have heard about this Lemon and attempt to find this place but most of the time there are other places that draw me away from Lemon. Perhaps this Lemon is not sweet enough. Hehe.

Most of the outlets of BIC CAMERA and YODOBASHI sell GS.

If you need higher range GS e.g SBGA029 and SBGA031 you could only find it in WAKO, Ginza its easy to locate as it is at the junction of the mainroad.

Perhaps other members can contribute their experience here.
