hm.. usually my trigger element for used watches are focus on rare model / limited edition ie Rolex 1680, Panerai 5218-201A etc.
Also budget is the key concern la..   :D

As for new watch, simple.. deal in peace for the condition, risk-less on replica aspect, also the "virgin" feeling lo..  :P
Last but not least, provided u have deep pocket as well

Just some humble opinion as per my perspective..

For me it depends :

1. availability of the watch - discontinued or still in production
2. budget
3. to flip or to keep
4. etc.

Pending on my budget.. I would always go for a new if I could.. but since I have a budget I go with it like a car... If I want a guarantee and sleep easy I'll buy a new ford or toyota.. If I want a car and fun I'll buy used Audi RS6 -09.. same price :)

I bought my GS new because I wanted the polish to be perfect and I got a reasonable deal. Most other watches I would look for a LNIB. That said, the online retailers have some amazing sales so I would be sure to check them before I bought a used one.

I only go for pre owned if the deal is really really good.
If not, I would go brand new.

And not much of a choice if I am looking for discontinued models... in that case, pre owned is the only way to go.

I have both brand new and pre-owned watches.
The price of pre-owned watches (vs brand new) is sometime difficult to resist

I have been looking around a Panaerai New and PreOwn watch but it seems the price gap is not great.

For eg New - 24k.Pre own 2012, 2011 maybe 20K.

So for 4k difference maybe better buy new correct ?

If the price difference is tempting enough (which it usually is), I'd go for a good condition preown. But I'd be careful to do some reference checks on the seller first.

it is worth to save the 4000 if the condition is good, and u will not lose much when u want to sell it later.

My opinion is if you're ready to spend 20k... will the 4k make a difference?
And you have to know when you buy new and encounter a problem, you can always go back to the AD or the boutique...
If you bought it preowned... well... good luck then.
You're not paying extra for nothing... it's for a thing that most of us take for granted... something called "peace of mind"  ;D

Pros: pre-owned with right n in demand models, one might even make a small profit out of it. Cons: if watch not working well, it will cost a sum to be send for servicing or repair  :'(
