I've had some rashes from OEM Seiko straps, from my last purchase. Perhaps it's due to residue from chemicals when treating the leather. It lasted perhaps a day or 2, and I persisted in wearing it. After a while, I think the residue or whatever that caused the rashes wears off, and its ok now.

It also depends on the sensitivity of your skin as well.

Chances are you are allergic to the chemical used in the production of the straps...

I have heard of people getting rashes from Ammo straps due to the gunpowder residue.

I think the aftermarket strap has too much chemical residual. I don't think by applying sanitizer onto your before wearing the strap would help.
