hey guys, need some help.
i have now a choice between a VC overseas chrono or Rolex Daytona (both in S/S).
price is pretty much the same as i'm getting it used.
i know the following from my readings:
(1) look - VC is classy, Daytona is rugged & sporty
(2) bracelet - some VC users swear by the bracelet being awesome (looks pretty good to me). i'm buying a gmt IIc so i think the daytona bracelet is pretty similar. i love the maltese cross on the VC.
(3) dial - i have to agree the daytona dial is alluring and VC screwed up with the unequal size on the subdials
(4) bezel - i don't like the daytona tachymeter
(5) movement - i understand that the f.piquet 1185 on the VC is not as good as the daytona, esp when the daytona's movement is all inhouse (and i heard it can take a pretty good beating unlike the fragile VC)
(6) exclusivity - i do like that the VC is understated but would also like the daytona as it's been an icon since i was young. i think there's a ratio of nearly 1 VC: 10 daytonas seen
(7) build quality - i read that the VC is darnn good, pretty much on par with PP and AP; wherelse the daytona is built to be rugged & to widthstand beating
(8) date - like the grand date on VC but dunno if the appeal will last, no date on daytona. i do find it a pain on my IWC port chrono as no date sometimes :(
ok, i'm buyign the watch just for weekend wear or to cheer myself up. not going to be a daily beater.
i have the following in the stable.
iwc port chrono, pam 312, rolex sub (to be gmt IIc), pam 210 (to be sold soon), and ....
give me some feedback!!! hope to take the leap this week.

just for the exclusiveness, I'll pick the VC

+1 for VC Overseas Chrono. I would pick Daytona if it is compared to VC Overseas only.
VC Overseas Chrono is often compared to AP RO. See the comparison below:

Daytona is a great watch but overpriced and overhyped and too many fakes around. But if I were to get only 1 Rolex, I will get Daytona.

VC cos i dun like daytonas...hahah...n VC much more 'prestigous' n rare....my 2 cents...
-
Definitely VC. Classy.
-
both i like, but being a typical chinaman salesman so i wil go wif daytona
If got more buudget, wat more can i say... Get both lah ^_^
-
VC!!!!!!!!!!
-
They both different...
Oversea should compare with royal oak offshore, ingenieur and nautilus
-
i think you should know that F.Piguet movement is more sought after compared to Daytona's...
i concur with the majority...VC would be my choice.

update: bought the VC, but still dreaming of the daytona.
anybody know how much the daytona is going for in local ADs ? (give me a pm) :)
