Hi all sifus..need advise.
I am about to pull a trigger..I am undecided between Rolex Submariner green vs Hublot big bang all green. Both are new, getting good bargain pricewise. Hublot cost a couple of thousand more but limited edition. Any advise will be appreciated. Really love both but couldnt afford to buy both.
Rolex is my target but when put on my wrist find it a little small. Hublot are masculin, sits nicely on my wrist but a little worried due to rubber strap durability.
How about cost of ownership? The running cost / service cost. Durability of both watch?
Thanks in advance.

Purely my opinion.
Size wise: Rolex wins. 40mm is as good as daily wear or whatever occasions.
Looks: Rolex wins.
Design: Rolex wins
Resale Value (a WIS favourite point): Rolex wins.
Cost of ownership service and etc: Rolex wins.
I think the only thing Hublot wins is it's less common, or less pedestrian. Rolexes are everywhere but not without merit.
In the end, buy what you like.
-
It is your decision at the end of the day but IMHO, Rolex Sub is the obvious choice.
-
I second Rolex
-
Hublot may stand out a bit, but Rolex is evergreen to me
-
Rolex
-
Rolex wins.
-
Rolex...
-
Buy the Hublot for the limited edition and more exclusive since not many wearing it ........
BUT you will still want and buy the Rolex Sub aka Hulk ..... soon :Laughing_on_floor:
-
Like everyone else in here... Rolex would be my choice as well.
-
Rolex.
-
Rolex it is then. Will pick up the Hulk tomorrow...hopefully wont regret about the Hublot. Thanks everybody.
-
Great choice! You will likely regret if you went for the Hublot instead. The Sub is iconic and will never go out of style. The green color of the Hulk will make it stand out more than the ubiquitous standard sub. Please post a wrist shot of your new love. I am also considering the Hulk.
-
Great choice, you won't go wrong with either one, follow your heart :)
Post some photo ya
-
first watch go for Rolex!!!

Just read a thread with a similar topic and found that almost all suggested Rolex. I fall into the same dilemma as well; Rolex Vs Hublot.
I am currently looking at the Rolex GMT Master 2 or Hublot Classic Fusion Chrono Aero Titanium. I like both designs but I am actually not a fan of Rolex watches. In terms of Top of Mind, Rolex is up there, when it comes to luxury watches. Can't explain, am just torn between these 2 watches. I sound illogical. :HammerHead:
Anyway, appreciate your opinions. Cheers......
-
Hi guys. I am new.
Saw your post n my humble opinion for this is classic fusion aero titanium. I tried it and nearly pulled the trigger. ;)
-
Go for whichever sing to u most...go Rolex if u are conservative ..
-
Yes...go Rolex if you are conservative and go Zenith if you are more adventurous. Hublot should not be in the equation. ;D Please do not kill me Hubloties (name of Hublot fans? ???)
-
2 different style
one classic evergreen
another WOW
so buy the one you feel like wearing it!
no right or wrong!
why buy a watch other like it?
always buy what u like
i remember our fren here say this
'buying a watch thinking of its second hand value is like going to register your marriage but thinking of divorce'
-
Thanks all for your opinions. Ya, I feel if I decide on the Rolex, it's a safer path but Hublot is a bolder option. Best go to an AD to test it out first.. And price is also a major factor.. I read some recommendation to maybe buy it 2nd hand..
Also want to apologise to bro Hiro for hijacking his thread.. Wanted to start one of my own, have no idea how it ended up here.. :HammerHead:

Finally...pull the trigger this morning. Managed to get it from Rolex center instead of unofficial importer.

Hi Watch Snob,
Can you list your ratings for high-end watch brands from best to worst? I'm guessing Patek Philippe and A. Lange & Sohne would be best, but I’m curious about the rest of the list and where you would rank Rolex.
Thanks,
Robert
This is a loaded question and one that deserves a lengthy answer. I cannot — and will not — give you a shortsighted, quick response, because I know it will be taken out of context, which will just mean more plebeian, misinformed, angry, and borderline racist e-mails from you (I’m looking at you, Panerai guy).
The “best” is a relative term. Patek Philippe is the best mainstream watch company in terms of lasting value, history and tradition. A. Lange & Sohne is the best newer watch company in the same vein as Patek, that isn’t Patek. Armin Strom ain’t bad either.
Thomas Prescher and Greubel Forsey are the best makers of tourbillons in the world. Urwerk and MB&F are the best makers of mechanical art. FP Journe and Philippe Dufour are the best “Masters of the Universe” timepieces that won’t get you knifed because no one knows what they are, or that they cost more than a Tribeca loft.
There are plenty of brands that most people consider “high-end” that, while I respect, simply aren’t superlative in any way: IWC, Vacheron, Piaget, and Zenith all make nice watches, but they are meaningless.
Then there are watches that only the uneducated and simpleminded believe to be luxury watches. This distinction goes to Hublot and Panerai, of course. Anyone who buys these watches is a fool, and both companies will shut their doors before I turn 40 — you can count on that.
Then there is the mighty Rolex. Would I put Rolex up with Patek or A Lange & Sohne? Not for a second. But, do I consider it a very important step above IWC, Zenith and even Vacheron? Most certainly. The reason is this: People care about Rolex; nobody really cares about those other brands. There are dedicated forums to Rolex, get-togethers, books, you name it. When was the last time you saw a Vacheron event or a book about IWC that people actually bought? Sure, their movement may be in slightly better shape than your average Rolex (debatable, surely), but in 20 years, your Rolex will be worth something — and everything else will be scrap metal.

I wouldnt buy watches based on the watchsnobs recommendation.
and anyway I would bet that Panerai will be here for a long time..

From your words i sense you lean towards more on Hublot...both are prestigious brands and iconic models,go for Limited Edition Hublot Big Bang,u can always get a Rolex Sub anytime.....maintenance wise hublot cost more, and if you're the type that prefer standout piece then the answer is obvious,in the end you're wearing it
