Dear all,
I'm having a dilemma few day back when I decide to get my 1st luxury watch,
I narrow down my search to omega planet ocean and rolex submariner no date.
I tested both and like omega PO more mainly on the size, modernize look, weight, and the orange numeral.
That is like a love at 1st sight, after considering and visiting the AD straight for 3 days, I end up buying omega planet ocean with rubber strap, size 45.5mm. It's a great watch with any attire u on.
But now after few days, I still thinking about the rolex sub c ND, wish to own it when I see it on others hand.
Do you all think I should keep my omega PO or trade it for the rolex sub c ND
Thanks

Trust me, sooner or later you'll go for the submariner, for me it's more like a "lifetime watch". If i had only get to own one watch my entire life which nearly impossible ;D because we'll change our taste & style in timely manner but yet the no-date sub is my choice.
It's just so classic and won't go out of time, but the drawback is you have to accept that many folks out there will wear the same watch with you. If you don't mind that, then it's okay, for me it's a bit kinda annoying but what to say ? It's just a great watch, almost everybody loves it.
If I were you, i'll sell the PO in LNIB condition to avoid losses and go for the new 114060. It's just 2 cent of my thought

Good one, if you could afford another, go get yourself the SubC. You will never go wrong with a SubC
If not flip your PO for a (hopefully) small loss, still thousand(s) .... :HammerHead:
Show us your wrist shot !!

Never go wrong with sub

Ya.... Hard decision :Blue:
Both are great watch, only if I can afford, I will keep both

I see from the WTS section that you've made up your mind to let go the PO for the Sub ND. Both are great choices and you would almost always not go wrong with a Rolex, which has grest wrist presence and holds its value well. And watch-flipping is half the fun in this hobby, so you may just revisit the PO in future, mate.

Ya Andy, I guess I will surely revisit the PO in near future, both a very great watch, if I not manage to sell off this watch, I will keep it as a life time keeper and save for a submariner
-
Both are great watch..keep the PO and get another Sub C..

LOL, most of the members here have had a thought or line similar to yours sometime during their horological journey ;) Only to have another "lifetime keeper" coming along to replace the earlier lifetime keeper.

Once you have flirted with a Sub, your burning desires won't let you rest till you own one.. ;D

then later you'll want a panerai, then a grand seiko, and then your wallet slowly dries up... ;D

Since you bough it at the 1st place, I doubt there is no love at all.
At least give it some time.
Sub will always be there, can always buy when it's financially viable option for u in the future.

I have to agree with Bro Hanz and Bro Jacky. During the early stages, we tend to be quite brash. Give it some thought. The Planet Ocean is a brilliant watch in its own right. Technologically, it is as good if not better than the Rolex. Unfortunately, it does not carry the Crown logo hence it is often perceived as the lesser watch. There is nothing 'lesser' about the Planet Ocean. Keep it and save for the Submariner. When the time comes, you do need a daily wearer/ beater on top of your Rolex.
-
Thanks to you all bro, yes you all click the thought inside me now, I will keep this watch , and since this is my 1st luxury watch, it's does mean something to me, thanks and appreciate your all feedbacks
As bro G.MAX was saying, maybe because of the crown logo .... I guess you are right, but this watch sang to me more when I tried both , I let my mixed up feeling affected me last fews day, I gonna keep this baby up :)
-
Well my advice is you should just cut your losses and go for what you want .... both watches are too similar and you will incur more losses 6 months down the road should you want to sell your PO.
I was at a similar situation like yourself but I decided to cut my losses and sold my Omega Speedmaster and went for SubC, never looked back since...... :Laughing_on_floor:
Anyway, choice is yours. :Dancing_banana:

I would say that both this Omega and the Sub ND qualify as wearer/beater. Better to save up for a nice dress watch instead.
Since you just bought the PO, you'll lose roughly the same amount regardless if you sold it now or a bit later.
And lastly, something made you choose it over the sub ND a few weeks ago so don't be easily swayed by popular opinion.

Keep your PO, put it in safe/winder, get a G-Shock, wear the G-Shock everyday for 3 months at least.
Until your brain has cooled off, make the decision again.

I would say that it would be somewhat of a waste to place the PO in the winder for at least 3 months before deciding if he should sell it. After all, the PO's value would not be enhanced even if unused, sitting pretty in the winder as the days go by. He should wear it daily for 3 months, then see if the Sub still sings to him after he has "acclimatised" to the PO after the 3 months. If he feels that he must have the Sub and the only way to raise the moolah for the Sub was by bidding goodbye to the PO, then at least the depreciation was for a good cause.
Too often (I stand guilty too) we buy a watch at an impulse but after a couple of days found that it doesn't quite sing to us. But then again, watch-flipping is half the fun for this hobby so I have always enjoyed the process.
So Skydrag, worry not as your PO would not be your 1st piece, neither will it be your last piece. You might as well surrender to the dark side and get a 12-watches case for a start, and start filling up the box. ;D

That sounds a bit cruel.. :Startled:

Thanks bro, well said
You are correct, there is something made me choose this PO over the submariner back then
I will keep this and try to save for a dress watch like IWC, Glashutte or a submariner in future

Skydrag, o got it right!!!. My take is that the PO is a great watch. Better or not than d R is ur own decision. R has d snob appeal tho it does nothing 4 me. my first luxury watch was a Seamaster more than 10 years ago n over time, i've had another 4 omegas but no R. U chose d PO so it must hv rugged at ur senses then so keep it... If in few years u still want d R, go for it... Next purchase should be a dress/formal watch.... In any case, never buy a watch to flip it, u will lose... Enjoy what u have n future acquisitions...ai
