Title: The next one
Post by: Yikkie on July 16, 2014, 04:13:07 PM
Thinking of adding one more watch to my current collection b4 the GST kicks in.  Fingers are feeling itchy. Question is... Which one?  Please join in the poll to vote for your favorite.  ;D

This is my current humble collection:

The contenders are around the same price bracket. Here they are:

1) Rolex GMT II Batman
(http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s643/yikkie23/Rolex_GMT-Master_II_front_560_zpsmlu84sbq.jpg) (http://s1310.photobucket.com/user/yikkie23/media/Rolex_GMT-Master_II_front_560_zpsmlu84sbq.jpg.html)

2)  Zenith Type 20 Annual Calendar

3)  Panerai PAM 424 California

4)  Omega Bullhead

As much as a Zenith fan that I am, I voted Rolex GMT Blue Black... You gotta have a Rolex in there...

Agree with Hanz. You lack a Rolex in your collection.

Bro, my collection are quite similar to yours and I have a Rolex GMT II Batman.
I believe you will like the Rolex and my vote goes to Rolex.

PS: I like the look of Omega Bullhead but it was way too big and too thick for my liking (6.5 inch wrist).
PS2: The GST hike is a perfect reason to buy and I intend to buy one, probably 1Q next year.  :D

Since many voted for batman, I'll vote for 424  :D

Nice collection you have there, mate. I would opine that Batman and/or Bullhead would complement your collection finely

I didn't vote as I support the idea that you need a Rolex but the green ceramic Sub Date is cheaper and nicer!

Your collection needs something different. Go with the new 'no date' 424

I wouldn't normally recommend Rolex as I think there are many more interesting alternatives out there.  But in your amazing collection you have many of those more interesting alternatives already, so you might as well add a Rolex!

Agree with DPKong... get a sub green ceramic. More robust as a beater.

Bullhead - the shape itself is a conversation starter

Pam.

if you're one of those who don't dare to wear a rolex GMT overseas because of mugging or theft...then I think your Seiko GMT already serves its purpose. why buy a luxury GMT watch if you don't use it. the GMT function is there for a reason.

agree that the hulk should be considered in the list...if it's included...hulk will be my choice because you don't have a green dial watch and a rolex.

Thank you for all the insightful feedback!     It is very much appreciated.  Somehow, I have never really been into Rolex until recently.  The GMT II Batman looks amazing in the metal with its stunning black and blue cerachrom bezel.  However, like JPSP mentioned, I already have the GS SD GMT which pretty much functions like a GMT II…only with better accuracy.   ;)  However, I do like the looks of the Batman.  I have not seen The Hulk in the metal and still unsure if I like the green merely from looking at pictures.  It is perhaps time to hit the ADs.  I am not really crazy for Panerais but the California dial on the Radiomir case is a thing of beauty.  However, it is pretty expensive for what it is…but there is no denying that the design and case work is extremely attractive although the movement is a little "blah".  The Zenith is extremely great value for money for an Annual Calendar complication.  It is one bulky watch but a pretty unique looking "Pilot watch".  However, I try not to have 2 watches from the same manufacture.  The Omega bullhead is definitely a conversation starter like Meo mentioned.  However, being a LE watch, there is no discount and is going north of RM28k, which is extremely pricey for an Omega.

In conclusion, there is still no conclusion as yet.   ;D

Perhaps I should save up for an AP RO instead?   :D

If you like the RO and can afford it, it is a better option than all of those you originally listed IMO.

Ya definitely go for the AP RO. If the right watch comes along, you won't need to ask anyone's opinion, you'll just jump in with both feet and buy

I really like the AP RO but still feel uncomfortable in dropping north of RM40k on a single watch.  Seems too indulgent.  Maybe I should take a hiatus in watch purchases until I reach 40 and reward myself with the AP RO for reaching the official age of "mid life crisis".  ;D...but that is another 3 years.

By then it may be 50k and you want to wait till 50?

I'll go for Rolex GMT II Batman just because it's my next target brand as well  ;D

I'd say your collection is missing a Rolex, that would round it out very nicely.

That being said, if you want a Pam 424, I have one which I'm thinking of letting go. PM me if interested.
