Actually the intention of this pool is to confirm my curiosity on my short observation of this forum.

The majority of active forumer here is those big buyer lah. Because usually only Rolex or High end watches get the most attention.

I just wonder why this forum mainly attract big player. Or everyone want to be Big? Also, a lot of silent forumer or reader where they only post after they pool enough funds to buy a Rolex etc. Hence, usually first post is asking about what watch to buy.

Actually, most of the forummers are here because of our love for the horology world. It doesn't matter how much the timepieces cost actually. Some of us liked G-Shock, some Seiko (just look at how many Seiko divers shots were put up, and how we go ooh-ahh over the lume shots), and of course, Rolex- being one of the more commercialised yet highly-competent brands.

We don't just talk about Rollies or Pams or IWCs or PPs, etc- we also talk about Seikos, Citizens, G-Shocks and the likes. As you move up the corporate world, you play with bigger toys, that's all. But the kid in us simply love watches, that's all. I spent RM10 on a new Goodberz kid's watch with red light beam; and I have as much fun as my kid playing "sniper" with his watch.

So I think the observation that "a lot of silent forumer or reader where they only post after they pool enough funds to buy a Rolex etc" reflects more on your mentality rather than the general crowd over here, mate. We see what we want to see. Don't generalise and put a price tag on our love for horological pieces please.

I agree with Andy.  We are here for the love of horology…not to be "Big" and to show off our expensive watches.  As you could see from your own poll results, >80% surveyed have watches from RM1k to pieces way exceeding RM10k.  As much as we love our Rolex, Patek or AP, a limited edition Casio G-Shock or Seiko Monsters will start our hearts racing all the same.  An example is the interest in the new Swatch System 51 although it is priced way below RM1k!  Take a look at the "what is on your wrist" thread and you will see a diverse range of watches.

Hey dont get me wrong,

Off course i can see there is a variety of forumer here.

Just not alot of ppl talking about their G shocks compare with PP or Rolex here.

I am implying, general ppl who own G Shock, Seiko, or to most general branded watch owner, they dont frequent this forum. Most of the ppl who frequent this forum is those with big watch.

Off course, maybe general ppl who have no interest in horology usually wont frequent here. Big watch owner usually have interest in horology will frequent watch forum more.

Im not saying ppl show off. Heck dont get me wrong,

MWF is a good place and everyone whether Big or Small should visit here more  :)

Lets brainstorm this in the followign manner:

1) how to get general ppl to get to know and frequent MWF?

Price is not part of my watch collecting philosophy. For me, price is a budgetary limit which tells me whether I should go for my target or not.

Design and concept are what I go for.

We all love horology - peace!

Yup, MWF is really helpful and its the number one local forum i will recommend any of my friend who get interested into CLOCK.

This thread is meant to learn demographic of the forumer, as i thought the majority of ppl here is all about >10K watch, but i think the survey prove me wrong, 18 vs 23 to date, hardly any different.
