Title: Rolex 6694 & Similar - Manual Winding - Collectable Watches?
Post by: ttfjon on July 15, 2010, 02:18:30 PM
Hello Sifus,

Can you comment if these watches are collectable ( well sought after and appreciate in value ) watches.   I noticed that these watches are still being sold for RM3K+

Thanks.
Jon.

For the 6694, there are many in the market. Make sure you buy from repute dealer and the seller.
Range between rm3k+ to 4k+ very much depending on the condition.

Always make sure it’s a 100% rolex (all - case, dial, hands, glass, crown and of course the movement.)

If the 6694 look too new, be careful. I have seen after market case, dial, hands complete with serial and model number, etc, engineered to precisely to look like an authentic 6694. It very x2 scary.

I have also seen a very nicely build up 6694 with all these after market parts. Only the movement is genuine. Not cheap though...

Now I never trust those buggers selling cheap 6694.

Hello David,

If I bring a 6694 to a watch repair shop like the one in Amcorp Mall, do you think they will be able to verify if the watch is 100% authentic?  Any idea what the cost of such appraisal will be?

Thanks.

Not too sure about that shop at the Amcorp. If we can meet up this weekend (Sat) I take you to my watch repairer.

I don't think it cost much to verify the 6694 at the shop, depending how well you know him. Others might charge a flat rates.

Hello Sifus,

This watch is a manual winding watch.  Since, the case is oyster, I understand that the crown has to be unscrewed before it can be wound, probably daily.  Because of daily use, the screw & thread gets worn out easily.  Anyone has experience with this?

Thanks.

Some local preown shop 6694 asking price is RM 10k for average condition piece now.

I managed to get 2 at below RM 10k last year.
