Hi, I'm getting married and my dad wanna buy me a watch at RM5-6k..
currently im wearing Tissot PRS516
I prefer Automatic watch but quartz is still ok for me as well..
I searched a few brands and noted Longines Master collection without chronograph, TAG Heuer Aquaracer without chrono are within the budget if got around 20% discount.. wonder is there any other choices? I prefer Swiss brand though
And no pre-owned please.. it's my wedding watch from my dad

As a wedding gift especially from your parents, you'd appreciate a watch that has the sentimental value, can be passed down to the next generation and so. Thus, my suggestion would be Longines. Longines has a very good history, excellent built quality and very reliable. Go around an AD and look for a piece that grabs your attention most, preferably the heritage collection or the master collection. Anyway, congratulations on your wedding!

Firstly, congrats on ur upcoming nuptial.
In relation to the watch for you to consider, i would recommendation u to also consider a quartz omega seamaster as it is a good daily watch but will suit formal attire s well.

Longines Master collection definitely...

but I don't think you can get the Master collection moonphase at 5-6K price range. The Omega Seamaster 300M Diver is almost double that price too (before disc) :-\

hmm...I'm not sure then where that forumer you mentioned was able to get that price..maybe he/she got lobang. If memory serves me well, the last time I enquire was last year at Omega boutique@StarHill and the retail price is around 10K-13K+ range

I'm so sorry if u cannot get prices for quartz omega at less than 5k now. Really thought that you could (been a while since my last omega purchase so am not up to speed on this things). I actually was thinking of d model that is in d picture above but unsure if it is d 300m model.

i googled and noticed the cheapest will be aqua tera quartz.. and RRP is USD2700.. unless can get generous discount or else its still out of my budget.. hehe.. anyway, how many % discount omega gives usually?

the older version 231.10.39.61.06.001

Think some shops around bukit bintang area can give (Please no discussion on discount rates. Mods Team) discount for d older models

There are a lot of offerings from Oris well within your budget which you should take a look. Easily recognisable too. They range from the Divers if you prefer something sporty to the Arteliers if you want something dressy.

After trying these, I personally felt that I need 41mm.. 38.5mm looked too small for my wrist..
I like strap but I think I will still buy bracelet and change to aftermarket strap..
I saw this TAG Heuer Carrera automatic 39mm in internet
(http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kT0Zp5IW4Yk/Uz9N9eVvtZI/AAAAAAAA37A/GsxoXKHrFdQ/s1600/TAG_HEUER_CARRERA_CALIBRE_5_AUTOMATIC_39MM_WAR211B.FC6181_MOOD.jpg)
Wondering how will it look on my wrist..looked nice as well

From your shortlist above, the Carrera looks good indeed. The Aquaracer is also nice and closer to your budget. For a wedding gift, better to get an automatic (although mine was a quartz - lower budget).
Happy Hunting and Congrats on your wedding!

Ya, i was thinking the same way as well.. think i will go try out the carrera & see the price.. if not ok then i will take the aquaracer

My parents brought me to see some watches around and they think the Aquaracer design not nice & Longines also not that nice.. Instead of sticking to their original budget, they saw this TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 6 Heritage and said this is very nice and decided to get this for me..
Personally I felt this watch is nice also but I was always wondering why a lot of ppl "hate" TAG? Some said overpriced etc.. Is that the sole reason and how do u judge a watch is overpriced?
And also recently Celcom launched their 100 Days TAG Heuer made me even ponders..

Hey, its your wedding buy what you love not what others like.. congrats and welcome to the club.
