Looking to own my first serious Swiss auto complication.I have narrowed down my choices to either Maurice Lacroix or Longines below:
http://www.mauricelacroix.com/Watch/Entry/Collection/masterpiece-3/Id/masterpiece_tradition_phases_de_lune-125.sls
http://www.longines.com/watches/the-longines-master-collection/L2.673.4.78.3
My concern on Maurice Lacroix is that is it worth the price it is asking? As for Longines, it is a pressure fitted caseback, sounds flimsy to me...
Hopefully experts here can enlighten. ;D

Longines definitely
-
Simple decision .... Longines Master Collection value for money and very much underated. Not to mention nice and elegant for the price point ....
-
Longines is too busy and cluttered to my eyes. I like the ML.
-
In terms of heritage, I know Longines wins hands down... and I also think Longines more cluttered but that is due to it has chronograph function which the Maurice lacks. Comparing both Maurice and Longines with same functionality, they are both cluttered. I guess you can't run away as it is a small watch with few functions...
-
To be fair, I've not seen any of these watches in person. Photographs usually do not do them justice.
Try them on and you tell us which one sings to you more.
-
try it on your wrist in person. You'll be able to make up your mind then. For me, I've tried both in person and I prefer the Longines.
p/s: I'm a sucker for blue steel hands and arabic numeral dials
-
Brands aside, id go for the longines
-
i'll definitely go for longines
-
Thank you so much for the feedbacks!! My decision has been made easier with your expert views. Now onwards to get a good deal....hehe ;D
-
Remember to show your wrist shot
-
It will still be some time before i pull the trigger. But here is what I currently have. It's my daily beater..
P.S can't seem to attach image...><

Never touch this 2 in person, brand wise, prefer Longines, look wise, Longines. Finally Longines got Aaron Kwok. :Dancing_banana:

Its a lovely orient star
I would pick the ML
reason being I prefer the finishing of the casing, dial of the ML.
I don't like the Fully polished casing of Longines
-
i'll choose the ML, i think the longings dial is a bit too complex, not sure if i'm going to use al those feature.
But it really depends on what you like, try it on your wrist and just follow your heart.
Let us know which one will you go for. Cheers
-
It's 2 very different watch with a few very different complications.
I will choose Longines
-
Thanks. I love it more everyday.:)

In terms of complications, the only difference between Longines and ML is the lack of chronograph in Longines.

I have had the Longines since first it was lauched way back in 2006 (i guess) and is still working fine. I still adore its looks and therefore, my vote will go for the Longines.

Vote for ML

What is your personal taste i.e. you like complications, chrono, marine, aviation, minimalist etc. Or just plain rojak? Price comes second. And don't worry about build quality, even the most expensive watch if you keep dropping on the floor can kaput.... unless you go for G-Shock ;D
if you have not notice, some of the sifu here do have some form of design inclination, what is yours? To know this is to know yourself, peace.
since Iam a minimalist, i won't go for both, both are great companies, i'll go for a different design.
Peace.

ML for its legibility, clean dial and top-notch finishes.
-
I am a fan of complications and am looking to get at least calendar+moonphase. My main problem is my small wrist(<6 inch). Therefore, I can only consider watches <= 40mm case diameter. Hope I answered your question...

Well big guy, I too have small wrist... so I feel your pain.
Try and give it a look on your wrist. IMHO I'd go for the ML. Due to the clean dial, it will give the illusion that it does not look big.
Peace.

Both watches are 40' in diameter so suit your wrist.
The extra on the Longines is the chrono so if you have no use for it, you can save some money (I guess) by getting the ML

 :thumbsup:very nice......

:thumbsup:Bill
Spicediablo, the ML I featured might not be suitable for you tho as it is 44' (I think) but for sheer simplicity in a GMT watch which has day/nite function and date, this ML wins hands down.
-
Finally pulled the trigger. Here is the wristshot:

the blue hands are outstanding.....

congrats on the new catch.
is the middle subdialof the Longines an independent second time zone display or a 24hr indicator?
-

for the design i prefer maurice lacroix
-
My concern is Maurice doesn't have the heritage and I bought this watch as part of my collection. Lastly, Maurice price is way higher compared to Longines.

ML not worth the price I think..
-
That is what prompted me to lean to Longines at last. I like ML design too but the price doesn't justify. Most importantly, they are lacking the heritage.
