I've always wanted to add a Submariner Hulk 116610LV to my collection, and have been saving for it. With the piggy bank in the black and ready now, I realised that I could also consider the Submariner 2-tone 116613LB or Sea-Dweller 4000 116600; both of which are in similar pricing bracket with slight top-up. I am sure that there would be others in the same dilemma too; and there could be many MWF mates whom have 1, 2 or even all 3 of these pieces in your collections. Hope to get your opinion herein so that it would be an easier decision to make. (I do enjoy having this dilemma though.)
Reading online reviews, I know that there were many purists whom complained of the shiny ceramic bezel that the 116600 uses; but I may not have that problem as I am quite alright with the ceramic bezels in 2 of my recent purchases being the 44mm Steinhart Ocean Forty-Four and 45mm Edox Class 1 GMT Titanium. And it was from these 2 timepieces that I shifted my earlier plan to get the 44mm DSSD as I realised that the 40mm 116600 would be more wearable with office long sleeves. And everyone seemed to have an 116610LN on their wrists, so it would be nice to have its bigger sibling 116600 instead. But the colours of the 116610LV and 116613LB sets them apart from the me-too black dial diver crowd.
And in case you are wondering, I don't dive eventhough I have a love for diver watches- don't shoot me for that, okay? A penny for your thoughts on 'em watches, mate!

I voted for Rolex re-introducing the iconic SD 400
-
i wont go for new sd 40mm, because its too similar to the sub ceramic steel, price too high since i dont really go deep.
if just one watch then the sub c date will be good / if u r at age start loving the gold... then 2 TT also not bad
in this case i choose sub lv, due to i have the dssd
-
Always submariner first before sea dweller. The thinner, more elegant submariner wears better than the sea dweller.
-
Just to make sure, your poll... All the ref numbers listed is for ceramic bezels.
I voted for hulk.
Reason being I feel that the SD ceramic pricing is on the high side.
No one needs the 4000 feet water resistant rating anyway...
1000 feet is more than enough.

Hi Chris, almost all my watches were stainless steel until I recently picked up a vintage Datejust from the seventies and somehow, I found myself liking the gold colour. Then, my spouse got me a rose gold classic, and my FIL got me 2 gold pieces with complications; and I've never looked back since. Both stainless steel and gold themes are equally at home on my wrist now.
Any obligatory wristshot of your DSSD? It's a beautiful piece with the rehaut.

Hi Hanz, sorry about the bezel typo and duly-rectified now. Yes, Hulk was my favourite.

Thx Gmac. Good point for consideration. I think the Sub and SD are not too far apart in height though, IIRC from reading somewhere.

I voted SDc 4000
Usually I think one would go for the Subc first then progress to these 3
-
None of the above!

I vote for the Hulk, as it looks good on a lady's wrist as well, and can be a daily beater, without the shiny gold attracting attention. That means the son or daughter can also wear it when they are ready.. ;D

To be honest, I do quite agree with Andy, gold theme (2 tone) on Rolex, especially on Datejust, it looks typical "uncle", but when you put it on the wrist, it looks fabulous especially with the Jubilee bracelet! However, for your Sub, you may want to have a second thought on the polished center link piece of the Oyster bracelet, it's a scratch magnet! For that matter, I will vote for the Hulk, green is mimicking jade which symbolize class, and in Chinese believe, it keeps the "devils" away.... Hahaha.... ???

My vote goes to the Hulk.
As I already have the 'most-true-to-original' Sub of all, the 14060M, I will want something that in contrast, like a modern green dial green ceramic Sub to form a Sub tag team.

I voted Hulk although TT is a very close second to me. As I already have a TT Daytona, I wouldn't think it a good idea to have another. From my experience, the gold part on the clasp and PCL on the outer side of the wrist will get a lot of scrapes and dents. Bear in mind if you ever go TT with PCL.
If the new Yachtmaster (not the YM2) was in the list, that would get my vote. Just a little more than the Hulk and much nicer IMO.
BTW, I've seen and tried the new Sea Dweller. Nice but not on my list, more so with the exaggerated prices.

Hi Chris, thanks and you definitely could carry the 44mm monster on your wrist well  That's a nice-looking strap as well.
-
i will go for the Hulk, when others see it, they will either love it or hate it. For me, i love the green ceramic of Hulk that is just simply stunning.
-
Not to hot on cyclops eye watches - the sea dweller gets my vote
-
Since you're saving your money for the HULK and now ready ..please go for it..
-
the TT is super ah pek
-
I would get the Seadweller or the Deepsea depending on your wrist size because I'm not a fan of the cyclops.
I have a 6'75' wrist so the DSSD fits ok for me. The SD will fit smaller wrists better though. TT is super uncle and the hulk green colour not that versatile. If you don't plan to wear it daily the Hulk and TT are fine for special occasions and weekends.
-
the incredible Hulk for me....
who needs 4000 ft water resistant anyway.....
-
Been quite busy at the plantation with no net access so could access MWF just only. Hope the satellite connection holds until the end of the message. I went for a look see-look see and it seems that the DSSD and SD4000 both wears quite alright on the wrist, costs the same dough, but just a matter of getting used to the rather-heavily tapered bracelet of the DSSD. Now scratching my head if I should just go for the DSSD since it is more distinctive compared to the rest...
-
Whichever is the first, you can be sure it won't be the last! DSSD now, perhaps Hulk next..etc, etc.. ;D ;D Enjoy your precious while we still can! Go for it now..
-
The DSSD is really flashy and stands out. Seadweller and sub slightly lower profile. Can consider the new BLNR batman Gmt as well, it's a beautiful piece. If you are going two tone, I recommend the TT GMT2c, the lettering on the bezel looks really good compared to the TT Sub.
As a daily, I would recommend either the DSSD or the BLNR GMT. If don't want too bling the Sub or SD seems like the better choice!
-
The colours of the dial itself is already a personal thing. Some find the green too fancy, others are willing to pay more for the hulk because of the green.
Then there's an issue of weight, and size.
Personally, I will chose the hulk, and save some money to get a preowned 16600.
-
I choose for hulk... Own a hulk before.... Love the bezel dial...

Looks like it would most probably be the case. After all, we have seen so many MWF members adding in pieces after pieces even after they have sworn to keep their collection (read : addiction ;D ) after control. So, will just chill back and see where the current buy goes. Pressure's off and the fun begins...
