Title: Rolex Service Centre Menara Dion, KL gets a big thumbs up from me
Post by: JOS2012 on June 05, 2014, 10:54:32 AM
I bought my Tudor Pelagos from a MWF dealer sometime back.
Last month I noticed that it was running fast way beyond COSC (I know its not COSC rated)
Those who know me are aware of my fastidious attitude towards accuracy..
I took a chance at highlighting the issue to RSC what with the warranty card issued in Europe.

Within 20 minutes of being attended to, the lady counter staff had taken the watch inside and returned to advise me that the watch needed to be retained for observation and not just a simple job of re-calibrating the rate.

A receipt was issued where it was clearly indicated that the watch would be ready within 2 weeks. She assured me that RSC would contact me if it was ready earlier.

True to their word, I received a call within 10 days that the watch was ready for collection.
Upon my collection the counter staff explained to me the issue and what parts were replaced.
The watch was also completely serviced.

I'm very happy to say that it is now running very very accurately, no less than its more expensive Rollie relative..
Unlike a few of my horror experiences at some Service Centres, not a single scratch, dink or mark was detected on the watch.
I monitored its performance and accuracy for a month before posting this up. Excellent to-date.

I've never used RSC during my previous 10 yrs tenure as owner of 4 Rollie sports watches, all of which has been sold.
I must say I'm very impressed by their courtesy, efficiency and professionalism in this encounter...

Too often we only post complaints and not when the service exceeds our expectations.

This is a case of under promise but over deliver.. not the other way round..

If this level of service is given to a low end humble ETA driven Tudor, imagine what more a Rollie...

Needless to say, I'll be keeping this excellent performing Pelagos for a while longer..

So this servicing / remediation is covered under warranty?  If it is then its truly sets a benchmark for all the other brands.

does this change your mind on any ownership of rolex now? :D

Yes under warranty but from an Europe issued warranty card.

I've never doubted or complained about the quality of a Rollie.. only its pricing and the direction of its marketing..
There are many other choices as good if not better at their current price points..

So this servicing / remediation is covered under warranty?  If it is then its truly sets a benchmark for all the other brands.

Thanks for the positive review, Joseph. Yes, there's too many complaints out there but not enough good reviews.

Services like this will keep me coming back for more, that's for sure!

 Good to hear that .......... now we know why ROLEX is the undisputed  mass market luxury watch  :Dancing_banana:

Now everyone would go to RSC and not the other watch service center for Rolex matters :Laughing_on_floor:

After sales & service is important ......

I have been there twice. Good service. Once was with my Exp I and they solved it FOC within half hour and another was 10 years ago to service a 16014 DJ. I visited the Rolex website just yesterday and am impressed with their statement. Today I rang them up to get quotation to service, overhaul, replace this 1983 DJ but I am thinking if I should cos it involves much $$$.

Most ETA 2824/2892 especially the higher Top or Chronometre grade can easily be adjusted to well within COSC chronometer standards.
Tudor and IWC use higher grade ETAs ebauches hence its not uncommon for Tudor/IWC to achieve very good precision.
Even Seiko 6R15s can be adjusted to within COSC chronometer grade.

I'm just very impressed and surprised that the RSC technician who adjusted the Pelagos took the trouble of adjusting the 2824 to such precision unless it was just a lucky shot.

Anyway its been a month and its very precise so far. Will monitor over the next 6 months to see if this can be maintained.

Awesome and you now got a Tudor chronometer!

I had the same good experience with RSC KL one and a half years ago.. The lady who attended to my DJ complete service was Grace, IIRC.  Then this year, when I had an issue with a TT sports watch, their Chief Technician came out to the Reception to patiently explain the matter to me
I had also experienced equally good service from their RSC Hong Kong. I think Rolex takes their customer experience seriously.

Good post, Jos.  As you say, we all too often are quick to complain, but it is rarer that we publicly acknowledge great service.  Nicely done.

I used their services once before for a Daytona that was running slightly slow. The warranty card was from the USA. It was all done under 30 minutes and the watch now runs perfectly as well. The technician also explained to me that while initial test showed it was running within the specs, it was near the low end and a very minor adjustment was made anyway.

I like the RSC at Menara Dion. On top of the free VIP parking just outside the RSC, have had great experience with their level of service.

1st couple of times there this year - bracelet adjustment, they helped to break a permanent link for the perfect fit. FOC, minimal time taken.

2nd or so visits - sub running fast, lady at the counter took behind for 5-10 minutes, back and accuracy improved to +/- 4 secs a day. FOC, took home the complimentary ROLEX magazine issue #2. Good stuff.

Recent visit - went to change my sub's bezel insert, took 30 minutes, perfectly done. Paid and got the complimentary rolex green leather watch pouch thingy. Took home 1 rolex catalogue and 1 Tudor catalogue.

Overall very pleasant experience at their RSC. Only small thing is, they do not provide any drinks while we wait! Hehe.

The green leather pouch given after servicing your Rollie is a nice one indeed. Complimentary? Here's the conversation I had with the lady at the front counter :

Me : Wah, free gift ah?
Lady : No sir, you paid for it.

Just sent in my wife DJ as the accuracy drops running at -10sec/day.  Saw Grace good looking and very responsive. I give her a compliment.

But was attended by Michele, very professional.

Free parking outside the building for Rolex customers.

But need to leave the watch for them to observe for 2 weeks.

Cross my finger and will update the status of the accuracy later.

Went there yesterday before lunch time for an authenticity check.
Cost is RM242 (verbal confirmation, without certificate issued).
All done in 15 minutes and comes with a green pouch and polishing cloth.

Since bracelet re-sizing is FOC, can a buyer assume that the watch is genuine if RSC re-sizes the bracelet, thereby saving the expense?
Just wondering..

You could I presumed.
But they won't check on the serial and movement etc.

Great info- have always wanted to authenticate my coke just for peace of mind.
Do they have a receipt or something that indicates you've authenticated the watch?

Also, does anyone know how much they charge to change the dial of an Explorer 2 polar in the RSC? The ring around the 8 o clock lume/marker for some reason is now faded into half black and half silver (instead of full black)- I wonder if its possible to just change the ring  ;D

Receipt given but only stated 'service cost'
They only tell you verbally the watch is authentic.

Or you could, like me, opt to change the bezel insert which cost almost the same as to authenticate it. The receipt that came with the bezel insert change has the serial number. So rather than spend 200+ to authenticate, why not change a new part which is of similar price. If your rolex is not authentic, they won't even work on it. :)

I will bring my Sub ND to get the pressure test.

While customers find their service generally good, the technicians tend to exaggerate their fault-findings - eg., if they examine your watch for service, and found some slight corrosion on the inside of the caseback, they will insist replacement, or no warranty on the WR rating! Likewise when they see some scratches or dents on the casing or bracelet, they will use words like "badly scratched" or "badly dented", which the watch owner may not agree! :o

One of the way is to look at the movement. The high grade and COSC ones have better finish and different regulating system , the etachron whereas the lower end 2824 has less finish and uses normal indicator type regulator.

Feel i should join in while we are in the spirit of celebrating good service.. Just went to rolex service centre last thursday.. I feel the service was excellent.. Helped me resize.. & when i asked for the watch to be authenticated, she asked me to re-consider since there is no need, with them already veirfying the warranty card and watch, they can verbally advise.. But when said its more for my comfort, they complied immediately and attended to my request.. Overall, i appreciate their service.. Rm260+ well spent.. The pouch is a nice touch.. Now might make a retrun trip and authenticate my wife's datejust..
